FCR Accelerator Pump Squirt Off Center

While in the process of jetting the FCR carb on my '08 KTM 250 XCF-W, I noticed that the AP squirt is decidedly off center, i.e. squirts noticeably to the right. I would guess that the squirt would hit the right side of the intake port within inches of entrance. Can the AP squirt direction be re-directed or modified without damaging the carb? What are my options? This has not been an issue with three previous FCR carbs.

why would you not want the squirt to hit EVERYTHING IT CAN so it breaks up the droplets?????????

it was myself 8 years ago that came up with .028" squirt that you get on TT. then some ***** said, "lets delay the start so the squirt misses the slide!!".

you can take a horse to water....

lave it as it is mate please.

I'm not following you Taff, are you saying it's a good thing to have the squirt hit the slide? In some twisted attempt to break up the liquid fuel spray?

well done yes 100% certain of it but you'll find nobody else who agrees unless they're really. really clever!!!!!!!!!!! LOL!!!

and by the way the squirt gets "WARPED" down and under sooner than you think.

Thanks to a tip from KTMTalk I was able to adjust the direction of the AP squirt. With the carb on the bench it is an easy less than 10 min task. For you perfectionists, all that is required is to remove the float bowl, float assembly, and the 'under-block' of the carb. The spray jet may now be rotated and adjusted with a small screwdriver.

Thank goodness for KTMtalk! All a Husaberg owner will find on the UHE is smart-*** advice! :moon:

.....and one sh....head!

name me one thing that keihin designed wrong with that carb? come on, name it!

i challenge you to find in all the applications, in all the places that carb will go, anything, anything at all that keihin got wrong?

so what the hell makes you think that they were idiots the day they designed the APJ?

whoever thought that they got it wrong on k-talk is a numpty and to be honest its simply full of anal americans. if yoou think you get better advice there - stay there!

fact is, keihin pointed that fuel at that slide for a very good reason. some of us have sen the slow mo pictures of the fuel from the carb going into the head and how it burns. it still isn't fine enough so you can (well in your case you can't) imagine a neat jet is going to be impossible to 'break down' to be burnt in that small time frame.

the trouble is that when you put americans in a group together they woop and holla and hi-five and the truth goes out the window.

which would i back harley davidson or kewihin?

mmmmmm? now let me think.....

This is all very entertaining, however all I wanted or needed was a simple answer to a simple question. Even though the Keihin FCR is the 'perfect' carb, the AP squirt nozzle was obviously misaligned as delivered. The problem was easily rectified from info obtained from a source other than husaberg.org.

Wow, I am sure glad I live North of Taff's line of sight. That was quite the salvo!

ps- I have to go adjust my AP squirt timing.

geez, where did that generalization come from?

it only belongs to the ones that frequent TT and that one!

all the good guys come here!

i've got no time for gimmicks or sheep.

Hey Taffy,

What do you think about the Boyesen Quickshot? Slap that on and all your bog issues are gone!

just kidding. Don't bite on that one, ok?

now you're taking the piss!

i invented the Taffmod. no need for it.

it's bling.
