I suppose that's why they hired Clay, it was his idea.

Glad you're okay and on the mend, John!

And now that your typing and chatty - what actually happened?
About your augering in, I mean...

- ET

I don't really care to spell it all out here, honestly. It's over and done with. I was asked in a PM to post an update on my conditon, and I really needed to thank everyone who helped me out during and after the whole ordeal. That is the only reason I even posted anything about the incident in the first place.

Thanks for the well wishes.

We understand....no problem-o ... and glad you're healing up.

Hi John, It's good to see that you can lift your arm high enough to type.

Get well soon.

Thanks Hair. Latest update is I am going conservative on the CB fracture, so no surgury. The fracture has begun to knit back together, and it looks ok so far. I've been back to work, no so issues there.

If my ribs would hurry up and quit hurting as much, it would be a big plus. Dr. said in the next two weeks or so I should start feeling better.

Hey John
many years ago I went over the bars in 5th gear and broke my sternum and many ribs in the back when the bike caught up to me. I dont think I have had a more painful injury. Try not to laugh, cough ar most of all sneeze. Good luck healing up and if you have trouble sleeping try the recliner. Worked for me almost a year

Bob,
You're right on the money. Sleep is very difficult, as I HATE sleeping on my back. I go from my recliner on the end of the couch back to the bed several times per night. My sleep cycle right now is none/very little for two nights--collapse from exhaustion and sleep good the third night.

I've had to sneeze already four times. I think I re break my ribs every time--that's how bad it hurts.

Today I heard from Tod, from Montrose. He rode a KTM at FR3, and I think I rode with him that first morning at Hartman Rocks. Anyway, he said he was the one who rode my bike out. According to him, the bike fared much better than me. He said it was fine. He also said I was a load trying to lug back up to the road. I thought for sure I was gonna get dropped and end up in Gunnison the hard way--downhill via back board!

:D

I didn't see a scratch on your bike John, you must have hit the ground first then buffered the blow to the bike! I did the same thing in June! Now I have to have shoulder surgery! At least our bikes still look good! FYI it was 12 degrees this morning and we had no rain or clouds the following 4 to 5 days after the ride. We all missed you John. Get well soon. Fritz

I think the FR rides should be at a different location each time. From someone who has to travel a long ways to get there I would like the opportunity to see new places. This was my first trip to Colorado and I will be back there next fall with my bike for a longer stay. Such a beautiful place. Fly fishing and dirt biking. Going to be my vacation destination for 2010. If folks want to meet up in Colorado there's no reason why we can't do it outside of a FR ride. Thanks to all!
That sounds GREAT!!! Seth & I are there, just lets us know when & where & we will drive up. Fly fishing and dirt biking sounds like heaven to me. We have friends that live in Ouray etc... that we love to visit & they would love to ride as well if you wouldn't mind a few extra bike & CO enthusiasts.
I have always wanted to learn how to fly fish, maybe Seth & I can rent some fishing gear & give it a try with you. That is if you don't mind company that might scare the fish away.

I'd say come up now to my place but the salmon are just about finished their run. Save the first week in September 2010 for your Canadian Adventure and I'll show you and Seth how to catch salmon on the fly but be prepared to hold on- These are not trout from Colorado!
My dad caught a 20 pounder last night on the stretch of river in front of my place. It's beautiful even if I am sleeping on the floor and freezing my ass off.

Sweet! I love a fighter, that would be Fun! Maybe it will become my new favorite way of fishing. Right now I would have to say that spear fishing is my favorite. Choose the fish, stab it in the eye & have it for dinner. Yum :slobber:
Maybe we could come up, Seth & I have always wanted to go to BC for some sic downhill mountain biking etc... now we have a motorcycle fishing buddy to go see too :D Thanks for the invite.

For anyone who's interested.............

I have roughly 7 hours of helmet camera footage, and 1420MB of pictures ( I haven't downloaded Bobzilla's pics yet so I don't know how much that will be) from our 4 days of riding in Gunnison. I'm still waiting for Mike Jones to send me his hero camera footage, that's the Fritz wipe out and Clay running him over. As yet I have not received it though.

So far that is 6 DVD's ( almost 7 hours worth), of helmet camera footage, and probably 3 CD's worth of pictures. I have to say that I am totally amazed at the Video quality of the Vholdr Contour HD footage.

The DVD's are raw unedited footage, I was going to edit and add some music to them but that looks like way too much work for me and my first timer skills and too slow computer. I figured that anyone who wants to can add their own music and edit them however they want.

If you contributed for FR 3, simply pm me your address and I will send you the DVD's and the picture CD's at no charge.

Dale

Dale,
Hope you get the video from Mike soon so the world will be able to see Fritz throw himself on the ground in front of me.

Wow I get a little busy and look at all the fun I miss out on. Anyways I don't want to comment on the start of this thread but the ending should read something like...
Where I live actually is mostly Americans. Draft dogers and hippies that migrated north during the vietnam war and stayed. I really like spraying sand at them, and the only thing you can trade for chickens up here is maybe magic mushrooms.
