HEY gthusa
Thank You for the post
I was questioning if this rumor had any truth to it, was hoping it did NOT! Probably started by a jealous KTM owner
I don't understand why some people thrive on spreading these kind of rumors, it's like a very contagious sickness!
I am reading all fact based information about KTM, as I was / am not sure about there sincerity to build the best off road bikes after they discontinued the real Husaberg 70* 4 stroke. I'm still :cuss:
My 2013 TE250 is a great bike, I hope KTM continues on the road of building quality bikes and does not look at just big profits which would go along with poor quality.
Have a great ride

He's got a point though Taffy.

web sites are never ever better places for his kind of knee-jerk reaction. trust me, this place has suffered more than most.

my advice is never to accept that kind of stuff. I always find a little humour is better and makes the world a better place!

Well, here goes my 10th Taffy...

Check all the posts about the 2013 bikes and read who told you guys the truth about the bikes. It's true, most things are kept secret until production, but the fact that production will come, is A FACT!

It is amazing that KTM dealers keep spreading the word that Husaberg will colapse and that Husaberg is only a test and will stop production... I understand that now they have competition with a better bike who is a KTM but with some little adjustments to the better. And this is done purposely to make dealers work better and compete to give better service and parts availability around the world and make sure the KTM factory rules over all for years everywhere.

The US is not the only market where Husaberg is sold, sometimes americans believe the world ends at the east or west coast but it keeps going. Places like Australia, who even have their own KTM and HBG version (AUS), just like the US does (US), they buy more dirt bikes that americans!!!!!!! KTM factory produces just around 100,000 bikes a year. Out of those, approx 7,000 Husabergs, and 20,000 EXC's. The rest are minis, street bikes, MXers, SXers, etc... etc... Out of the 7,000 HBGs, over 2,000 go to Australia! Can you believe that? AMAZING right? Then, the largest market is EU, followed by the rest of the countries that buy EU (including but not limited to: Asia, Africa, EU, LatAm) and then... the US.

And here goes a humorous fact (smile and think carefully)... Pierrer also has a wallet of his own! Not everything he does, is for KTM directly. I know it creates some conflict of interests... But, what are you gonna do??? (I am not saying Husky will survive as it is). Who wouldn't want a pocket like Dietrich Mateschitz's in Austria? Wait 3 more years and a few months to know the result of this mess. I won't say more.

Cheers guys! Go buy a HUSABERG and be happy! Or buy a KTM, and tell everyone it is the SHNIZZLE so that you can sell it to buy a HUSABERG sometime.

gthusa, its very interesting to hear that HBG produces aprx 7.000 units a year. I´ve previously been trying to find out this number with no luck. Reading the 2012 KTM´s annual share holder report gives the total number of bikes (apprx 100.000 units), but its not broken down into segments (HBG,MX,EXC).

As for the 2014 models, the Norwegian importer says he will have the bikes on the showroom-floor by early July. No technical info on them yet though.

Now why didn't you write like that in the first place? :D :D

write as though the person is next to you.

Re: Sad Day :(

Merged the two topics to keep it all squeaky clean.

And on a related note, I will begin converting the site to a Husqvarna enthusiast's forum immediately. I feel that I'm ready to attach myself to a more popular brand and reap the benefits of a larger web audience.

To help the community embrace the change, anyone mentioning the other H brand will be summarily banned from the site. This is only to help streamline the exciting change that we have been offered.

Long live Husqvarna!

PS: Taffy will be banned even if he doesn't mention the other H word. Just because.

I wouldn´t worry too much about the future of Husaberg after reading this interview with KTM CEO Stefan Pierer and his plans for the future. Page 66: http://cyclenews.uberflip.com/i/122010/60

He barely mentions Husaberg in passing. I dont' have time to read the whole thing in detail now, but I think I read enough to read between the lines. He talks a whole lot about husky.

Yup :hang:

HUSQVARNA AND HUSABERG REUNITED

“WE BRING TOGETHER WHAT BELONGS TOGETHER”

The year 2013 will be remembered in motorcycling history as the year that Husqvarna was reborn.

HUSQVARNA STARTS A NEW ERA OF GREAT SUCCESS
Following the acquisition of Husqvarna by Pierer Industries AG and after careful analysis and evaluation of all aspects, it was decided to reunite what came out of shared roots 25 years ago. In other words, Husqvarna will enter a positive new era by combining its own rich heritage with Husaberg’s state-of-the-art technology.

NEW HUSQVARNA MODEL LINEUP TO BE PRESENTED IN OCTOBER
The new generation of Husqvarna models is already in progress: a new line-up, with brand new exclusive design and the latest technology is being developed and will be offered in the segments Enduro, Motocross and Sportminicycles. There will also be exciting, newly developed products in the Supermoto segment – one in which Husqvarna has enjoyed a lot of success in recent years.

DON´T MISS THE PRESENTATION OF THE NEW HUSQVARNA OFFROAD LINEUP IN SWEDEN; PLANNED FOR EARLY OCTOBER 2013. The new line-up will be presented to the big fan community at the international EICMA show in Milan in early November.

HUSQVARNA SPORTMOTORCYCLE GMBH, OPERATIONAL AS OF OCTOBER 2013
As of October 2013, the new group company "Husqvarna Sportmotorcyle GmbH" based in Mattighofen, Austria, will be fully operational in the production and sale of the new model range to the Husqvarna network of dealers and distributors. Parts supply and Customer Service for all Husqvarna models up to and including Model Year 2013 are guaranteed for the years to come and will remain at the current business location in Biandronno (VA), Italy.

its the end, of the husaberg name, they will continue with ktm engines so i'm told, but god only knows what the chassis will be like hopefully very similar to what they are now with the husky name, but i'll know them as huskyberg's

It truly is heartbreaking. The Husky choice makes sense given the powerful branding the Marquis has. Husaberg is more "an in the know" kind of bike, while Husky was ridden by the likes of Steve McQueen. There just isn't enough room with the 3 brands essentially under the same roof. I was kind of hoping that the purchase of Husky without KTM would lead to Stephen P. walking away from KTM and taking Husaberg and Husqvarna with him to compete with KTM.

Alas, reality is nowhere near as fun as hope. While I'm not ready to drive the nails into the coffin just yet, the announcement of new Huskys without any nod to Husaberg is quite telling. :cuss:

the fact that the Powersports article begins with: "Husqvarna brand to be reborn using Husaberg technology" gives me some hope to find the true Husaberg 70* engine back under the Husqvarna brand name.
what else could be named "Husaberg technology"? The rest of a Berg is all made of KTM parts.

But after reading of the http://cyclenews.uberflip.com/i/122010/60 article it is clear to me that Husqvarna will have its own development department (the Husaberg/Husky crew?) and therefore different engines and technology from KTM.
KTM and Husqv. will look for synergy but very likely in the supplier lines.
Using KTM engines in Husqvarnas would not make sense, it would create the same weard situation as in this model-year: blue KTMs with no real distinguishing features from KTMs.

****. I really loved the 70* engines.

On the upside; if I have to continue with Huskys I rather prefer they roll out of the Mattighoven factory then out of some kind of Berluscony Operette Factory.

small off topic addition. why can I not use the word s.h.i.t.? it automatically changes into Stuff.....

Well crap. Now BOTH of my bikes have been made instant classics by industry perterbations. First my 1997 Buell S-3 Thunderbolt, and now my 2011 Husaberg FE570S. Damn, on a roll, and it's all down hill.
