After all the issues I had with my 2001 FE501e, mainly starting and also stalling issues, I decided to send my Dellorto carb to Dale.

Starting has become a lot easier now, although it still requires the proper technique, I now do it with the confidence that it will start up in about 5 kicks cold, choke or not.

When the bike is warm, it will restart with only one kick and a lot more easily than a 125 2-stroke.

The engine runs a lot smoother now and the power has become very manageable. With a 14T in the front, the bike has no issue climbing any regular hill.

Great power at every stages, and if I stall it, it really has to be my fault now.

Good investment, and a lot cheaper than putting a Keihin. With shipping and parts it ran a bit over $200, while upgrading to the FCR would cost between $500 and $700 just for the FCR itself (used or new).

Run me through your best starting procedure if you don't mind. I feel I must need to be trained the the art of starting my 'berg. I will be attempting this again tonight.

We need to take a video of this. I have seen one in Hungarian, the guy starts a 650 barefoot  ]

That's noth'in! I've seen Rick Bozarth start a 650 as well as my 501 with his bare hand pushing down on the kickstarter. 8O

Some are much harder than others to start, without any mechanical modifications.

I'd like to see it done on mine.

Proper jetting and adjustment of kickstart to decomp cable and a very strong arm/wrist!

Well it is true for the jetting and the valve adjustment. Get it right, have good gas, maybe a new plug, reduce the gap a bit to .32 (some say even smaller) and in a few good kicks past TDC it starts.

I guess I could kick start mine warm barefoot. For the arm start, hmmm... How much does he push?

i teethstart mine. it's nuthin-small potato's mate!

bloody froggy wimp!

I would pay to see anyone (including comic book heros) hand start a pre kokusan Husaberg.

:D HOW MUCH?

Hi Rick,

Stock 2000 600 cc Husaberg. Dellorto Carburetor and SEM Ignition System. How much to display such an event?

The way I see it such is a win / win situation. If you start said bike by hand I simply eat a bit of crow and walk away having learned something new. If not, you eat the crow and walk away with a bit of coin.

I intend to charge admission and possibly take odds. A good time is nearly guaranteed and the potential for turning a profit appears to be good no matter the outcome.

What do you say?

Respectfully,
Dale

:D WELL DALE, I have never seen a 2000 6000cc husaberg!

but it will cost you alot!!!

can you say... webcast?

I am quite serious.
After all of these years starting a stubborn Husaberg (read pre Kokusan) can still be a challenge. If Rick Bozarth can indeed hand start such a beast it is certainly news worthy.

Best Regards,
Dale

Obviously a typo. That would be a 2000 "600 cc" Husaberg.

Have you indeed started a Pre kokusan Husaberg by hand?
Mind you I am not suggesting it to be impossible, simply improbable.
