Hi,

after reading some threads and not getting smarter, please tell me:

I have to replace soon the camchain. Fe 501 01, updated to 03 camshaft and gear.

What should I buy? (I prefer clip bolt).

Original Chain for the 03 age-group?
Regina or other - a chance to choose the brand?

Any bad age-groups of the chains known?

Update tensioner recommended?

regards,
husa98

Careful, Regina does not manufacture cam timing chain anymore, and some of their branded inventory was manufactured by another Co. The Regina manufactured chain was very good.

DID chain is now being used by Husaberg starting in 2005. The part number for the 66 link chain is 800.36.013.100, and the DID link is 800.36.013.150 according to the 05 Parts Manual.

I think the link is the 'Rivet' type.

I have not heard of any comments regarding the DID cam chain. I can say for certain though that DID drive chain is among the very best.

Regards,

Joe

hi joe

my old dealer said that he had had a DID camchain go south quite quickly from an '05. he said it to me in march which just simply doesn't sound right at all.

i would try and go DID with the '05 cam chain blade and the knob removed from your old camchain tensioner.

joe has given you the part number for a camchain and a 'split link'. this is the english term for this.

is that the HB tent at the oktoberfest perchance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D

I have desmounted the camshaft today.

The chain is fully enlongated. 14 from 15 clicks from the tensioner are out!

Its a regina chain.

I will try the 05 DID chain, should I?

What ist necessery for this "update" ?

New Tensioner? Part 2 and/or part 3?

@Joe: I have to agree my best experiance witZ DID chains used in my former honda XL 600C and my husa 98.

@Taffy:You´re a specialist!

The tend in our colours blue and yellow!!

But I have to confess that I was only 2 times in the HB tend.
It´s the typical tend for english, australian, italian people. Excessive drinking, squirting with beer on naked ****s and *****....

I prefer for my old days a little bit more "bavariian socialbility" and visit the Hippodrom, Ochsenbraterei, Augustiner tend.

Whats about your piston????? No answer to my posts???

Now I have another trouble:

With the new timingchain (IWIS) the dealer recommended me a new, better curved timing chain tensioner. With the old tensioner "guide rail" the tensioner is also with new chain wide out. This should be better with the new "guide rail"

He said it is the part since 02.

But, in the partsmanual from 02 and 03 is ever the same part 200 329 01 since 98.
In the 01 parts manual the part number is 200 135 01, also since 98 :?:

Now I have the new 200 329 01 mounted and the tensionier is fully out!!!!!! All the 15 clicks!!! The problem is bigger than before changing!!

01 there is a part 200 267 push rod sleeve added, 03 not.

What is wrong now?

Take a look at the pictures..

Thanks.

the tensioner is from '04 onwards and not '02. this is all in the 'owners doc' sir!!!!

the knob should be removed from the end of the tensioner to go with the new-thicker-blade.

husabutt is on the case here i believe. husabutt?

Taffy, am I stuipd?

I talk with my dealer, tell him the problem, and get a new THINNER tensioner?

You can see at the picture: old = thick, new is thin..

Over again:
03 partsmanual says 200 329 01 without knob.
02 partsmanual says 200 135 01 with knob
01 partsmanual says 200 135 01 with knob

Also is my 01 updated to 03 in this parts

After all the dealer send me the thin 20013501 tensioner, on my bill is a 20032901 - and I have no knob on my tensioner.

Now have to dismount the **** once again!!

you need the brown blade-the fat blade ok. also the tensioner must have no knob on it ok?

your dealer is wrong.

Taffy

Hi Taffy,

the brown thick blade is my old one. The other the new..-

I have finished: The old brown ist still in, the tensioner is 10 clicks out, and a lovely sound fullfilled my garage after the first kick.

Now I have sent a email to the dealer......

Its frustrating: spending so many hours on husaberg technique, calling some dealers, and although wrong.
No trust on any words, besides only here on UHE!!!

I have to thank you Taffy, husabutt, bendberg and everybody else for the good tips.

Special Thanks to Ausburg for the tip with the welding point.

I have tried to e-start after 2 minutes running and it acts!!!!
Two times!!!
Then it was a backfire in the exhaust.... I will try it tormorrow again with realy warm engine..

I thank my mom .........äääh, ok, it´s not a Acadamy awards ceremony

:D :D

Yes I am still on it. I placed a parts order awhile back and now the only thing that has not come in is the 05 cam chain tensioner. Just as soon as I receive it I will post pics guaranteed :)

I have seamless roller / seamless bushing chain available.
If you are interested phone 510 223-9052 and / or Email [email protected]

Said chain is what I have been providing to Husaberg personnel for their own projects.
