Aussie version of Moab

Hi Gang,

I've spoken to pids and he and I will go to Louee on 5/6 May as discussed earlier to have a ride and talk to Tom about Force Ride Oz in Easter2008.

If anyone else wants join us then, just ring and book in and we'll see you there. I'm going to meet up with a few non Berg riding mates from Sydney as well so it'll be fun.

Louee climate in Easter is pretty much anything, could even be a frost, but I'd expect 20 deg days and 10 deg nights.

I definately think that a ride calendar wth Louee the centre attraction is great idea and I'd be seriously tempted to include Mildura on my itinerary. As mentioned earlier, I'm happy to include my back yard as well. How about the weekend before and the weekend after?

I reckon that once we can confirm Louee as the venue, then everyone can book themselves to suit and arrange their transport. we might consider a donation towards the weekend which could then be divided up, say barrel draw prizes, UHE donation etc

Steve

Hey Guys, as you can see from Staino's post on the previous page
Norm Bromley from KTM/HUSABERG australia will definately come to the party with some promo gear, shirts, jumpers and banners etc after I forwarded your latest email.

I understand where you're coming from Ausberg about the location. As none of us have done this before & everything has to be organised remotely it needed to be at the most central location with the most amount of services readily available. We dont have to have it there every year but it was the simplest for the first one.

I haven't received anymore PM's with confirmation of interested parties. I hope this is just because everyone is still planing their holidays & not a lack of interest.

Cheers,

Wal :)

I would love to go but it is a fair bit further than I like to travel for a ride normally.

Wildman...

Look, I'm unsure, (that's for sure), but put me down on the RSVP, mate I am keen as anything, what it comes down to is money and a leave pass (how much does a divorce cost?)

Faktor, what if I come through in my ute, can u fit your gearbag, clothes bag (a cold carton of coopers) and so on with a berg in half a Falcon ute tray?... an' I dont want to hear any Holden sh!yte along the way though!!

I'm Keen... Im gunna make it.. Gunna make it.. Gunna Make it...

Azza.

Guys,

This is not for the ride, its for the event, and a road trip is part of what makes it an event. You've got a year to plan it, it must be doable. I did the Cape a few years ago. The riding is good, but its the road trip there, 6000 km and the ride and the people and the cold beer at the end of the day to share the day's highlights with that makes it an event to remember

I've spoken to Helen at Louee re the recce and tentaively booked them for Force Oz 2008. They have a number of bookings already, but we knew that didn't we? We currently have about 40 beds in the shearer's quarters and some other options which will get us 50/60 all up so far and fiirst call at any cancellations.

Gert those expressions of interest in wildman ASAP and I'll have something of substance to discuss with Louee.

Steve

Hit the nail on the head Steve  If everyone chips in & helps a fellow "Aussie Husaberga" with car pooling it doesnt have to cost a fortune & the driving is made easier. Everyone has their own contraints, ie: money/missus but it's alont time between now & next easter & thats alot of time to earn brownie points & put some dough aside.

I was going to try & offer the guys from far north QLD a lift down from Brissy so at least they arent travelling from one end of the earth ( literally )on their own. I'm looking to modify my 6m long tandem trailer to carry about 10 bikes so I can help out with travel.

Commit now & work out the rest later. There's no better incentive once you've commited & it's more likely to happen. :D

whato troops!

been keeping abreast of your plans and would make the following comments:

get the numbers way up then ask dealers. i believe you were chatting to DBA and the next post said "just 3 signed up" so.... getting momentum must come from the numbers signed.

make the ride as breathtaking as possible so that it's sooo different to anything 95% of riders have seen.

nobody should pay for the group: i.e. they have to book, they have to pay their deposit. once you start covering arses they always let you down. words are cheap.

the two lads who said maybe are BANNED - that's banned from saying maybe coz you started all this.....(LOL)!!!!!

one of you trawl all the UHE memebers and actually ask personally and directly for them to answer on this thread if they could please.

i would have suggested feb or march before easter so that it doesn't conflict with any holidays. also we all save and spend. we fill our coffers in march and november. your seasons are the opposite of hours so that one is a hunch!

until you put up photos of louee you aren't doing yourselves justice although i haven't clicked any hyperlinks i must confess.

don't over do the itinerary. you won't believe what a dispirate bunch you are. yes you like huseys, yes you like a forrce ride yet you may agree on little else... so there will be those that want one day and a night in whilst cooking their own breakfast in their motorhomes and then there will be the 4-dayers on the piss, no sleep, down the cafe for brekkie, wheelies and noise etc etc. you got the picture.

the fun will be meeting people you've spent so much time talking to here. the riding with wasn't that great at 'moab 1' it was the riding, the scenery. again we had three different abilities among just 24 riders so you didn't neccassarily ride with your mates.

after 3 days riding together though you were good mates! i thoroughly enjoyed coronabergs time and yet within a month he was back to his 3-posts-a-year status which suits him fine!

once your a true adult, team hugs don't happen although we did have a special meeting for the donation to schwim of his bike (now that's what i call a present!).

where's skully?

whosaberg is from perth so he needs someone to actually say the words "i have a bike for you. it's sorted!"

non-huseys? let them come but only as an indirect route like we did. so if pete has a husey and his three mates want to come then that's fine!

BTW, after our force ride:
velosapiens bought a husey (recently).
froggy bought bobzilla's bike that summer.
fryguys mate from BC bought one (or fry promised to sit on him!)
i think schwim's brother was going to get one.
so you can tell husey australia that out of the 16 (of 24) that came to our force ride, 4 bought huseys! and that's a 25% hit rate!

anon

on a sadder note, bev's dad didn't make it. i told her to get down there and if she was lucky, to make her peace with her dad which she did. he was from a place named 'harvey bay', right on the beach itself. i think he was at a T-junction turning right, the two cars coming down the road were turning left but i guess he didn't see the third sat on the white line.... they got him to brisbane by chopper very quickly. the girl is going to make it. bev went out on the back of her dad's mate yesterday (sunday) which i thought was great coz i don't want her too frightened to go pillion again. thanks for your condolences and it all adds up to let people know that they're not alone.

how far is that area from your ride lads?

anyway, the harley boys have got one helluva funeral organised for this friday apparently. it'll be a biggy!

would love to be at an australian wake, now that would be special!

keep up the good work!

regards

Taffy

Hi Taffy,
My heart goes out to you and your loved ones, it is a sad time and indeed a terrible waste. Hervey Bay is about 1 hour up the road from where I am and I believe I saw a bit about the accident on the local television news, obviously didnt realise at the time........ really is a small world.

Mick

Thanks for the valuable suggestions Taffy ( sorry to hear about Bev's dad ).

I have already started sorting through the Aussie contingency & sending PM's to everyone asking for a yes or no.

Has anyone got any input about Taffy's suggestion to make it before/after easter ? I only suggested it so people wouldnt have to take too many holidays but I can see the conflict with other punters being there in droves at that time of year.

I have attached a map of the surrounding area to Louee park. There seems to be a massive array of state forrests right next to it. Might be good for somewhere else to ride but if it's anything like QLD you need permits & registered bikes so not all could go.

Whosaberg, my mate Staino ( west coast trailbike safari's ) is going to make the trip ( more than likely ) so I'm sure something can be organised there.

Cheers,

Wal :)

i think it's great that husaberg aus has come to the party

i was proved wrong as i laughed when the idea was mentioned .

the damage has been done thou

just to be accurate.

i asked for the force ride to be before the plane costs spiral, but during decent weather and before fellow UHE's made the excuse that 'they were going here or there' themselves. it's not the general public - it's you.

of course i'm writing this and forgetting that your season is the opposite again. doooooo!

anyway march in the U.S is november in aus at a hunch. you need to hit that area just before the holidays start. when a man gets the call that 'you're taking us down the beach for a long weekend' you know that's a bro lost, not because he doen't want to come but because you've organised it slap bang into the holiday season.

you're all hardy enough to get together just before the weather breaks, cold nights, the occasional shower. over here in the UK THAT IS march and october for sure!

if you pick easter and the wifey-wifey says "love, we're ....". well you know the rest!

anyway, just clarifying my point and wish you the best of luck.

regards

Taffy

Taffy - sorry to hear the bad news and our thoughts are with you.

I have an Uncle and cousins in Hervey Bay and have to get up there at some stage and ride around the pineapple and cane plantation. Bit to far to take the bke though from Vic as I would be doing a lot more with family - not just riding.

I am trying 100% to go on Ride - got to break the news to the misses :) I would also drag along 2 other non husa riders. Maybe Easter might be difficult for some and tweaking the dates might help ?

As to venue I agree a set up venue like louee would be easier for first but we have a lot of choices in a large country so we can move it around ? Would love to do it also in Mildura / Murray River area. I also have an uncle there :)

Maybe some should consider using rail. Just a thought - if enough got together they could even hire a container - we did that when we moved back to melbourne from sydney. Price ??

The unfortunate reality is that what ever is decided it will not suit everyone. We are however trying to come up with something that will work for as many as possible.

As far as venue is concerned, we all have our preferences for riding. Louee is a riding park, but it is a large one, check the link here to discover more. http://www.louee.net.au/

This being a ride park means that apart from noise control, you can ride anything, registered or not. I have a registered bike as I'm sure do many others, but some have already mentioned that they don't and Louee gives them the option

As I've also mentioned previously I have some contacts in the area that I expect I'd be able to utilise to arrange rides around Lithgow, Sofala, Bathurst, Hamption etc for registered bikes before and/or after.

Louee also have on site accommodation andhave currently reserved about 50 beds for us. If and when we push the go button it will be up to you to arrange that youself with Louee directly.

Timing. March is generally the best time in SE Australia for weather. Yes it can do anything, but it will most likely be 5-10 deg nights and 15-25 deg days. With respect to Easter, there did seem to be a level of interest in this date which is why we are currently running with it. It doesn't have to be, but if it isn't, when will it be?

Do/can we arrange for a poll re alternate dates and venues, and if so, what are the alternatatives? Be constructive guys, promote an alternative and explain why its better.

Remember, this is our first, Louee gives us the chance to make it as easy as it can be to organise, is about as geographically central to UHE members in Oz as its possible to be, offers accommodation on site and has some great riding as well. Remember, its about the EVENT/OCCASION

Steve

Hey guys,

I have now sent a PM to every UHE member that had anything to do with "Australia" in their location. Its amazing just how many Aussie members there are, all 143 of them. 8O Probably is more but not all have their location.

From the prompt reply's I got back ( thanks guys ) nearly all said Easter was a problem & the poll I put up suggests that after is a better choice.
If we make it after Easter ( ie; Tues,Wed,Thur,Fri ) it gives all the time for travel or family commitments to make it by Tuesday. Louee will book the place ( apparently ) for more than 10 people midweek so its not a bad option. With 2 days to spare after the "official ride" you can explore other local rides or make the homage home to rest the weary bones.

Please vote in the poll asap on the best date option that suits & the numbers decide the outcome.

Anyone interested in a recon ride at Louee on may 5/6th this year express your interest when you vote. Steve, Pids, Me & (i believe) Ozrider are going to go & check out the place so look for the photo's & updates.

Cheers,

Wal

PS: Dont forget to check out the link Steve left on the last post for Louee.

Hey Wal,
Yep I am good for May, I assume you guys will stay at the station, if you are what accomodation how many nights etc.were you guys thinkin - I will book the same.

Mick

Hi Ozrider,

pids and I will arrive late Friday and depart Sunday pm. Its 2 nights minimum so you have choice of Friday sat, or Sat Sun whether you use both or not. Ring and book and CC over phone. We are in the shearer's quarters.

Great to see you there,
Steve

Proposed 'Australia Husaberg Force Ride 2008'

Well, My Aussie berg buddies....

how did we let this slip of the radar so soon???I hope all of the Australian UHE members are considering their itineraries for 2008, and expressing some interest by now...

We should all be gratefull that a few amongst us are putting in some hard yards to try and make this happen, and that we have the support of our Internationally based brothers to help support and steer us in the right direction.

If you havent done so yet, get in the spirit and express interest here and give it a go..

Azza.

Dear Wal;

You must have missed some aussie's as I did't get your Pm about the event.

My dead berg from last years crank bearing failure is finally returned from the dead!
Just have no water, dust & charcole forest here in Victoria at present, not good riding!
FE550 2005

Cheers;

Craig
