Aussie version of Moab

OK, seems like Louee has some form of concensus. Dates? Easter 2008? Do some of us a bit closer want to have a weekend there soonish, March/April 2007, to sus it out a bit more and talk to Tom, the owner, about a bigger event and timie frame for 2008?

Steve

Hey Steve, thanks for checking it out & providing some additional info.

For it to be a success I honestly believe it needs to be next year. At least that way people can book holidays,( save ) 'cause the interstate guys are going to have to have more days off for travel time. I checked the school holidays for that time & even though states vary, easter would cover the overlap between them. This is also an advantage if kids/teenagers were to be considered ( dont shoot me for saying that ! ) seeing as though it's private property they too could enjoy a ride. Also, are there showers, toilets, & of course the BBQ's ?

Might be an idea if some of themore local NSW guys could do a run this year as a reconnaissance mission to help better plan the big one next year. Is that feesable ? We would probably need to get someone ( property owner or local Berg dealer ) to keep track of the entries & monies paid. Would that be something that Sutto's would consider ?

I have spoken to John ( Mate from Perth) & he hasnt been able to see Norm but reckons he would help promote the event & probably supply some banners & giveaways ( '07 FE650 ??!!! not ) but that is yet to be confirmed.

If we can get the venue & timeframe sorted, I can keep track of the numbers of interested parties by sending me PM's with a tally of how many riders/spectators are going to come.

At least then we'll be able to work out what ultimately needs to be provided & cost it up.

Cheers,

Wal

Whatabout bringing Husaberg Australia in on it??

Surely it'd be a big thing for them to have the largest accumulation of Australian Husaberg owners / enthusiasts in one place at one time??

maybe they'd put up a bike (dare to imagine) or maybe some giveaways to raffle, but it'd be a top promotional exercise for them to sweeten the perception of those who have allready bought into their market.

Hey there gents,

As soon as you guys are sure that you're up to the task, you need to appoint a person(s) as organizer and I will be happy to set you up in the current Force Ride category, so you can keep track of who's doing what. Once the US FR 2007 draws to a close, it's posts will get moved to "Past Force Rides", which conveniently leaves the current FR category without action. I'll make the organizer the moderator of the category, and you can alter posts to reflect changes and lock topics to keep them from getting muddied.

That being said, may I suggest:

1) Plan on 2008. As was stated, you're outcome will be much better if you give people a chance to turn it into a vacation.

2) Start hitting up dealers & distributors for participation. Do what you've got to do to make it worthwhile for them.

3) Talk it up to your fellow riders. Put a link in your signature pointing to the ride thread. Ask your dealers to put a notice up in their shop or on their site.

4) Pre rides are a great idea. Try to put a halt to any surprises that may arise to ruin your ride (what do you mean they shut the park down in April?)

If you guys need some assistance that the site can provide, just let me know and I'll do what I can to help make it a success.

thanks,
json

Sorry awilksch I should have been clearer. The bloke "Norm" who I referred to in the last post is the Australian importer. They are in WA & John ( my old mate ) gets a sample bike every year to use for his tours. John hasn't had a chance yet to talk with Norm but is confident that some form of promotional help would be forthcoming. If we could get the local berg dealer in on the act he might be able to qualify that we are serious about this & weigh in on the deal. These guys are also in the know with the ADB's & Trailzone's of the world so we might even get some mag coverage to boost numbers. I honestly think the hardest part is going to be getting the news out to the people that dont frequent this space !

I'm going to try & get hold of Johnno this weekend so I'll find out wha I can.

Wal

Hey guys i would certainly be interested in participating. Look forward to seeing the details and helping if i can.

Hey guys,

I sent an email to the guys at trailbikerallys.com.au and the emailed me back saying that they would help promote the ride through their website & even turn up to do a story on it. He's asked to be kept in the loop anyway.

Thanks for the tips schwim & we will definately take you up on the FR category free space offered. I'm still trying to work out how to get the picture & the stuff at the bottom of my posts so I'm not going to be moderating anything...

Anyone got their hand up ?

organise one for '08 and see how many you get.
i'd be up for coming down under.

Hey guys, anyone got some contact details for the Louree riding park so I can contact them ?

Steve, you mentioned that you had riden there before, do you know the owner enough to make some enquiries about fee's & services ? I still haven't heard back from Husaberg Australia so I might send them another email later this week. I was going to ask them if they have details for people that have purchased Berg's that we might be able to contact.

Any suggestions whether it should be just Husabergs or a mixed field & make it a product awareness ride for others to try the mighty Husaberg ?

:p

Whosaberg....

Wh... Wha... Whaddaya mean? (you laughin' at me?)

yeah, i'm a dreamer... im talkin about gettin Crusty demons over here for a show while they're in Oz to try raise money for youth (suicide) and a new MX Track, but its hard to make people believe it can happen..... (may not though an' Ill have to eat my words).

MAN.. there is some support showing up here though for the Ozzie ride!!! good on you all!

Personally, I'd like to be able to bring a (non berg) friend along, it's a lond drive to NSW, and family wouldnt likely come along - and that's if I was allowed to anyway.

any good tips on how to campaign your dealer to chip in??

Oh, and I Know a dude in ADB, who works behind the scenes, could drop him a line to raise some interest, may even get it in the mag to raise awareness?

Azza.

I believe this is the reason why Whosa is laughing (he must have had a premonition)

Hi Guys,

It would seem that no one has a better idea than Louee.

I've last ridden there about 7 or 8 years ago. I checked my calendar and the weekend of 7/8 May 2007 works for me to head up there and have a ride and talk to Tom about a Force Ride at Easter 2008. If anyone else would like to join me then that'd be great. pids is in Queanbeyan, which is just up the road from me and on the way, pids?

I'd suggest that the event be open to all riders and bikes, with perhaps the provisio that if you are not on a Berg, that you know someone who is.

I suspect that Berg Oz will be lukewarm until they know what it is about, which would mean that we would need a successful 2008 for them to look at support in 2010. A few dealers involved will help push them I reckon, so warn your dealer and keep them in the loop.

I think that we also need to plan a week or so of East Coast riding around the event. If people are travelling to get there, as most will, some substantailly, domestically and from OS, then we need some more ridiing. I coukl probably get the West Sydney and Bathurst DSMRA guys to arrange rides for registered bikes in the area. Sunny Corner is a major trail bike rally just down the road and the guys that run that also run tours for cash out of Lithgow, also nearby. Lots of riding in the area with some local knowledge.

So priorities are:
1 Sus out Louee and book for Easter 2008
2 Discuss with your Berg dealer. Most/all of them are riding enthusiasts themselves and may be interested in just coming along for a ride.
3 Follow up with Berg Oz
4 Arrange more riding
5 Collate a list of spare bikes if needed by visitors
6 Take advantage of json's offer re forum

What else? Are we going to make this happen?

Steve

PS, commiserations Taffy, its never easy losing someone you love, or when someone you love loses someone.

$hit Taffy, sorry to hear about that mate.

No doubt it wasnt even his fault. Please keep all of us posted on how everything goes as we all would like to know I'm sure.

Wal

Steve, you're the man ! Great work. I'll keep onto Norm at Husaberg as I now have his direct email address !! The other thing I was thinking is organising the logistics of travel. I am going to modify my tandem trailer to carry 8-10 bikes & the car carries 5 people. If the interstaters carpool it will much cheaper so less excuses for not being there.

If people are going to spend their precious time organising this, early input of who intends to go is a must. Please PM me with expressions of interest ( include your location ) & I will keep a rolling tally as we go. This must start now if H'berg Aus ( or any dealer )are going to throw anything behind this as I cant ask for help if 8 people are gunna show up ! Also include in your PM if you intend to bring people & how many you might fit in your car/trailer.

Awilksch, can you "try the water" with your mate at ADB & see what they might do for us. Berg AUS advertise there regularly & if they ( ADB ) have been approached it adds leverage to the plight ?

This can happen with a little effort. If Steve tentatively books the park in May for next year we need to have a basic idea of numbers going before then.

So dont wait...express yourself today !! :D
