Hi All,
I know the boys at 70 degree racing were having problems with the new injection molders. I was wondering if anyone has received one of the new tanks? I have had one one order since Early December. I am sure the wait will be well worth it. Does anyone have any information on this issue?

Thanks,
Willyweeman

No, no deliveries here either. Last email communication with John, about a month ago:

" Production began last week but the molder is having a venting issue and the scrap rate is way too high to continue this way. We met with the mold maker Monday and are currently trying his recommendations. I am at there mercy also. I appreciate your patience as there is not much I can do at this point but rely on my roto molder to work this out. This is a hugely complicated mold design.

Thanks

John Wiser"

After all you went through to get the tanks going the first time I'm sure you will get it all worked out. What changes are there for the new tanks, any other than the white color? Why the new moulders?

Further quote of previous email conversation with John.

"We cut up tanks and looked at the thinner portions and made the adjustments to correct. Also worked on the parting lines where the three different pieces of the mold come together to eliminate any inconsistency. Also we have made sure the inserts are totally covered on the inside with material and it’s a consistent thickness around it. All tanks made now are pressure tested to 10 psi under water."

Looking good, let's be patient. I prefer a better more solid product.

Hi All,
I haven't heard anything recently about the 70 degree fuel tank deliveries.
Does anyone have an update?

Thanks

Two days ago I sent him an email, to see what is the status.

He is still working on it. It seems to be complex. I may just as well cancel my order because I need the tank before mid June. To be honest, I don't see my tank coming by that date...

I wasn't, but I have the feeling that now I am or should be.

I've had a 70-Degree tank on my bike for the last 18 months or so. It's a great product and I've had no issues what so ever.

However, I notice that KTM/Husaberg market a very similar item under #8120790404455.

Who makes this tank?

It is made by 70 degree racing for Husaberg.. one of the reasons it is hard to find a 70 degree tank right now.. that and the above mentioned new rotomold issues.

Check the 70* Racing .com site for updates............

The mold is now at the new molder for initial molding test runs, I hope to hear back in the next couple of days on progress.

And yes, I have a lot of pending orders to fill once they get the production going!

Hi Dale, sent an email to your sales@etc site, no reply yet - hoping you are on here then.

basically from Australia so

Q:
I would like to know how much they are? Edit: Ooops, I see $449US at bottom of homepage.

Q:
Payment (I assume PayPal or credit card from Australia).

Q:
Am I able to order and pay to be put on a list, or do I wait until you're happy with the delivery/quality etc.

Q:
And one last question I just thought of. Are they grey, clear or black? (Edit: I see the orig photo shows grey)

Q:
And I'm adding in a rhetorical question. How the hell did you manage to get the shape right? It's a bit complicated with notches, wriggly bits & stuff than an XR tank for instance!!! Did you muck around with plasticine since you left pre-school or something?

They are now going to be the natural color/white.

I talked with the molder yesterday.

They are making parts and they look good. He expected to send some to his companies QC today or tomorrow for leak testing etc......

If all goes well I should have one for inspection in my hands by Monday or Tuesday of next week. Fingers crossed!

Update: 07-25-12

I spoke with the new molder this morning and am going to visit the facility this Friday for a close up inspection of the parts........

They have been able to run parts successfully with an existing XLPE material, and they are going to do some test runs with a material that has been unavailable until just lately as the patent has just expired. This recently available XLPE material has better flow characteristics well suited to the complex form of the subframe tank.

They have also QC'd the parts with the existing material and the tests were good. Here's a couple of pic's.

I'll post again after my meeting on Friday!!

Great Dale,

Did I see two slits for a strap near the end of the seat?

That would be great.
