FS570 Commuter

I did the usual 1000km oil change on my fs570 the other day and followed that with a coolant drain and then refill.

also did new chain and sprockets was 13/38 now 14/40

both renewed fluid levels are as they should be, but since the service i must say she is running very hot, hotter than usual.

many seasons ago, i removed the thermostat and added the fan kit to rectify a coolant boiling over issue and all has been sweet since

any idea's why this recent service may have caused her to run a little hotter than usual .

cheers.

How are you thinking it is running hot? Is coolant coming out? Proper coolant level cold is just above the fins, any more and all the extra will spit out.

coolant is staying in the radiator no probs there,

its a noticeable increase in radiant heat coming from the right hand side when sitting on the bike???

You might have had a trapped bubble in the system, which will make it run hot, but then should work itself out via some short run time.
Is your fan coming on?

If all the electrics are working like they should, maybe recheck your hose routing again?

Also, have you changed out the thermo switch to the slightly lower temp one? (bmw 1985 325e aux fan switch)

Mine was running really hot one day. It was running poorly and would die. I would have to frequently let it cool down before proceeding.

It turned out it was running lean because I installed the KTM in-line fuel filter, which was found to be problematic.

So you might check your filters and injector.

Why remove the thermostat? They are in there for a reason! Sometimes it is beneficial to change them to a different temperature rating depending on your climate but by removing it you prevent the cooling fluid from being in the radiators long enough to properly cool. I live in Australia which is a fairly warm climate and i would never remove a thermostat unless it was stuck shut.
