'04 - '05 steering geometry

I'm considering upgrading from my '02 FE501 to a new FE550, mainly to take advantage of the new quicker steering, but loosing the SEM will be a nice side benefit.

Can anyone tell me:

Are '04 and '05 FE steering geometry the same?

Was the change made to the frame or triple clamps?

DB, I updated from '00 501 to '05 550 and the steering on the 550 is a lot quicker, but it is to the detriment of getting high speed head shake on rough surfaces. Not that the shake is to bad but it is noticeable.
I wish I new a way to get the best of both bikes in the 550.

Cheers

it's a little known fact that all anyone has to do is look up the parts books and spot the difference. they put the year a part was first fitted next to the part number.

anyway, yes they are the same. i only notice the slow steering at 5mph when racing although i have yet to truly ride hard an '04 to find out.

the changes sound like nit picking complaints. buy it, ride it and if it's a problem -deal with it.

triple clamps with lots of offset will help cure it. but if you're going to have steering that's close to 'the edge' you must renew the S/A, steering head, shock, fork, wheel bearings do the wheel alignment, ride height etc etc REGULARLY. coz as sure as eggs is eggs it'll show if anything isn't right.

The 04 has headshake under hard acceleration. Get a damper.
It's a wonderful steering bike..
