Have my forks moved?

I recently had a relatively low speed crash on the 450. I stupidly dropped it on the bitumen and it ran into the Armco breaking the front fender.

I've replaced the fender with a brand new item from Husaberg but the rear of it now rubs against the frame and radiator guards. I never had a problem with the old fender.

Is there a chance my forks have moved back towards the bike somehow? How can I check and/or resolve it?

Thanks,

aardy

aardy,
Make sure the rads & bracing are not moved forward from hitting the armco.
Then bolt on the original broken fender and see if the rear still hits the frame.
If it clears then you know its just the shape of the new fender.
Otherwise , it sounds expensive!

Check the two plastic spacers under your fender by the brake line holder thingie.

Long long ago I hit a mine-shaft on my 520. I hate to say this but it was never the same. I loosened every thing and shoock the front end a bunch of times and it seened to work only for a little while.
Maybe ride someone elses bike to see how bad it is befor you get to used to it.

Well, I finally got around to checking out the problem with my front guard rubbing on the frame.

I bolted on the old guard and the same thing. It rubs against the frame where it runs from the head-steam down to the underside of the bike.

I doubt that the forks have bent or moved as the fender attaches to the bottom triple clamp, not the forks. The only way the fender could have moved backward is for the head-stem part of the frame to have been bent backwards - I figure the amount of force this would take would result in damage that would cause the bike to be a write-off, not a little bit of plastic rubbing against the frame!

Below are a couple of photos. They show the fender rubbing on the frame and the head-stem. I can't see any cracks that would indicate that it's been busted.

At the moment, I'm at an absolute loss to explain this - but it annoys the hell out of me.

A couple of washers under the two rear-most bolts holding the fender on seems to have fixed the problem. I now have about a 10mm gap between the fender and the frame. Joy!
