I've got a ton of people to thank who helped me after my accident. First off, thanks to everyone who made sure I was stable at the accident scene and got me back up the hill while I was strapped to the backboard. I was in and out of it due to shock and hitting my head, and everyone did a great job trying to keep me awake. I know Dale and Colby were there, but obviously many others as well. I got better care from the Husaberg guys at the scene than I did from the EMTs (who were good too).
Dale went and got my wallet from my RV and brought it back up to the hospital that night, called my wife, made sure I was ok until I was admitted. Fritz and Vicki came to see me in the ER, and Colby and Matt came by the hospital both days I was there to check on me. I think others came to check on me as well, but I don't remember. I have no idea how my bike got to Fritz's shop, but one of Fritz's guys delivered it back to me Saturday at the campground. They also kept up with my backpack and personal things. Thanks to everyone at Gunnison Motorsports, you guys frickin' rock.
I was told that Vicki made sure I got my fair share of all the donated swag, which was hand delivered to me at the RV as well. I am very appreciative of that. I won a Husaberg shirt donated from Kurt at BikeBarn--thanks to him and all the other vendors that supported the raffle.
All my clothes were cut off of me, so when it was time to get out of the hospital, one of the nurses found me some scrubs, got me dressed, and took me to get my Meds and then took me back to the campground. That was very nice of her to do that.
I only did one day of the ride, but what I did was outstanding. Thanks to Clay and his gang at Husaberg NA for the hard work bringing the bikes from Tennesee. I was one of the first ones out on the moto track, and I rode every single bike. The 2010 Husabergs are the best bikes I have ever ridden, and I will have one soon. I got to ride some single track with Fritz that day as well, which I always enjoy. The whole event raised the bar, so thanks to Dale, Dez, Ossaman, Gunnison Motorsports, Husaberg, and everyone else. I'll never ride another brand of bike!
Anyway, every group ride has to have a designated idiot, and I fit the bill this time unfortunately. My crash was 100% rider error. Five broken ribs, a broken collarbone, and a broken scapula is the damage. The collarbone may be surgical-- I will know by Thursday this week. I am much better than I was a week ago--the ribs being my only issue really.
Again, thanks to everyone who helped, looked after me, and made sure I got off the side of that mountain. I'll never forget it, even if I don't know most of your names. See ya'll in two years, and next time I'll be riding the whole time!
