Ok I got the goods on the insurance and reg topic finally.
We all need insurance, it doesn't matter if your from Delaware or DC. What the SRD ( Sustainable Resource and Delepment , the agency that governs and polices the public land which we will ride on) suggested was that you get 'rider' policy for the period of time you are up here. You need " Public Liability and Public Damage Insurance", protecting others for your own misfortune in hitting them. You will have to get this from your home state/country as they will not insure you here if you are not a resident.
the registration will get waived if you are here less than 14 days.
I hope this helps define the insurance issue. I'll gladly help some more.

Hey Guys,
As I mentioned in an earlier post, you need to have a working headlight and tail light. No mention was made of the having to be street legal. All vehicles or trailers brought into Canada are required to have insurance and you need to be able to provide proof of insurance if asked.
I'm still interested in layin' tracks in that Canadian soil. Times-a-weston' Fryguy, we need lots of details. Lodging information would be a huge help. Sounds like there may not be too many riders from this site that would will be able to go.
Otherwise I'm all for Idaho City. It's closer and hopefully more of the Husaberg community would be able to attend.

wonder if dale can send that fanzine out he does sparingly and occasionally to hit the whole of north american members of the website?
you know, pictures of moab etc etc
that newsletter goes to all that agreed to it which might be 90% of members for all i know.
gotta be worth doing i'd have said and then when you go back to the USA the year after it'll be running on it's own methane!

Check this site for general info and accomodations. The Best canadian is recommended ( has a hot tub ) and so is the Highwood. Both have restaurants, the Best Canadian has a lounge for you lizards as well.

I will camp at at a staging area, no camping charge, and all are welcome to stay there that want to bring a 'caravan'. There will be no hook ups where I am staying.
The Crowsnest Pass has all services, and tons of heritage and attractions to spend a day with the family, hiking, golfing, fishing ( liscenses available everywhere ) atv rentals, etc. The region caters to offroad/etv/snowmobilers.

We are staging at say 3000ft, and we can be at 9000ft in 30 minutes, give or take. I can later set you up with the basic settings, from there, we just ride with it!!!! ALtitude, air density, humidity, temp all vary greatly depending on location. SO.... set it up with the basic good settings...then we ride.....

All you need for motivation to come to Canada is to look at the picture of the sick downhill in my gallery. That is an hour or two up the mountain range from where Fryguy is planning on having the event. Riding in the Rockies is mind blowing.
I am sure that Fry will have areas picked out that will more than accomodate all skill levels...from the folks who want a relaxing cruise through the single track and fireroads to those who want to punish themselves with serious technical sections.

Well, what can I say. I was stuck in West Virgina with no bike and none of my riding crew. The locals and the gang that were there for the ride seemed to be looking at me like I was some kind of fancy foreign appetizer. I figured if I cuddled up with the mannequin that they would be nervous enough to leave me alone!!! :lol: :lol:
You have no worries....besides, I am sure that Fryguy will keep me tied to a tree when I am not riding

I have been remiss in my chatting. I have been injured and recovering from surgery, but I thought I should write and update you Bergs thinking of Canada.
Anyone thinking about a ride in Canada this summer had best check the latest border travel restrictions. You may need a passport and if you have a criminal conviction of almost any kind, especially DUII, Canada will either not let you in -- i.e. stop you at the border-- or, if they do let you in and then later find out about your nefarious criminal history, then your Berg and your gear could be impounded (translated: pay the storage lot a lot of money and maybe never get any of it back) and you will be removed from the country in custody. NO I AM NOT KIDDING!!!
Because of political and economic tensions between the US and Canada, terrorism and firearm smuggling into Canada from the USA, Canadians shopping tax free in America, etc..the Canadians are tightening the border belt.
