I've been away a week and now I wonder what I've started.

I'll warn the natives.

I will try a get a brewery sponsor.

I'll research the accomodation topic and start a new thread for that. The beer is way more money, gas a buck a litter so about $3.5 ouch that hurt!!!!, which has motivated me to think about race gas as it stores longer. Our government loves to sin tax us, so beer and gas are huge. Everything else seems to have the same price tag on it, ie cheaper for you US guys considering the dollar exchange.

I hope there is some other Canadians thinking of coming, I would hate to think that the site believe that all canucks are like my buddies and I.

Our bikes are NOT street legal insured and registered. Since we are riding on crown lands, they require us to be insured for public liability etc. PLPD, and to be registered as an offorad bike . Don't ask why because the registration thing doesn't make sense to me either. So I think that if you have insurance on the bike and have a green sticker or what ever is needed within your own regions regs, you are ok. Again I will check with the powers that be and post it.

Lights and spark arrestors are required as well.

SLT is about 14 driving time for those estimating travel time.

Local wild life include grizzly bears, elk, moose, rabbits, crows, eagles,a nd coming Aug 06, husabergs.

Fryguy, A Molson sposor would be great if you could  And I'm sure that all those cute girls up that way could be added to the local wild life list eh? Also if no other canucks show I'll talk hockey with you, I've been acused of being one on ocasion anyhow.

Are those Royal Mounties still riding horses? If so, they probably could not catch any of us.

What is the killer hand grenade and rabbit lubbz? you lost me.I would like to look into going but I would bring the shrubbery it is much enjoyed for both of us. Anyone else bringing theres?

The rabbit of Caerbannog

Yeah, I'm not that big of a nerd where I actually know the name of the rabbit from Monty Python's Holy Grail, I looked it up. But no shrubbery for me, I'm not a good landscaper. Besides, there should be enough shrubbery in the Canadian country-side for me.

Just because i know the air speed velocity of an unladen swallow,( an african swallow at that!) does not make me a nerd! well okay...a bit of a freak but not nerd. :D

I don't wanna talk to you no more, you empty headed animal food trough wiper! I fart in your general direction! Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries! :D

Now ! go away or i shall taunt you a second time-ah!

And now for something completely different.

sorry...Enough with the obscure monty python rhetoric.....

August 06 is good. It could be my b-day present. Fryguy, do you have a number or contact that we could get more information on the insurance requirement? would liability coverage in the states be adequate?

as long as you don't talk about the yankees of hockey, i.e. the red wings. even tho i spent a hockey-free winter, i'm still annoyed by their attempts to just buy a stanley cup by getting a bunch of outrageously priced stars from elsewhere.

of course, when the avalanche do that, it doesn't bother me as much, cuz they're not from freakin' detroit.

Hey Everybody,

I placed a call to the Alberta, Canada Motor Vehicle Department to get information on the "insurance" requirements.

I was given the number of and Insurance person to call, which I did. I explained to her what we were planing to do and she said that she would look into it for me and e-mail me back with the information. As soon as I here from her, I will forward the information to everyone here.

Later,
Mike

Hey velosapiens, someones Jealous :crying:

GO WINGS!!

When I lived in Montana I used to catch a lot of trouble from the guys in the locker room because of my wings tattoo.

 Gentlemen:

As you may have guessed from my monicker, my alter ego and non-Berg related occupation is an attorney at law in Oregon. Please do not hate me too much.

The ride in '06 sounds great. I did an article for a newspaper awhile back addressing the laws in Canada with regards to tourists who have certain criminal convictions. It is fairly long, maybe too long for this forum. If you would like to read it, you should let me know, and I will post it somehow or send it to you.

Here are some links:

Canada has some pretty tough laws with regards to tourists, firearms and knives. If you are discovered to be an "inadmissible person," at the very least you will be turned away at the border. If already inside Canada when contacted by law enforcement, you will be deported, your Berg and other vehicles impounded, and it will cost "tak san okani" to get your stuff back.

There are ways to get the tourist restrictions lifeted, but they take time and some money. For those Bergites with DUII/DWI convictions, start now.

Fryguy.
I was sitting around the other day and was thinking about thins trip and was wondering if there is any off road vehicle license that we would need and if we could take care of that before the trip. My bike is street legal in Michigan that is only for some trail requirements. I know Sue mentioned other legal complications but I have no worries about that. Thanks.

Lubbz and all

I will be done in the Crowsnest area at the end of Aug hosting 2 off orad races and I plan to talk to the conservation officers about what they will be looking for in bike requirements and paperwork etc. I have quizzed a couple local officers and they honestly didn't know what out of province requirements would be.

And I can only imagine that they would require what is legal in your home jurisdiction.

I'll have the info in a month and then we can further the plans from therewith website info for hotels and attrations that I'll gather as well.

FryGuy,

I write my final provincial exam in July '06 and depending where I am at hospital-wise I will attend.

And I'm sure that all those cute girls up that way could be added to the local wild life list eh?

Lubzz,

I grew up in and around that area. Regarding the ladies...it's the mountain air! Increased barometric pressure is retained in the frontal chest area 8O !

Shayne

So good to here from you and I sure hope to see you there and perhaps sooner.

How is school?

be cool

fry

Fryguy,
Sounds good but if they make it that hard to find out about requirements then maybe we don't want to know. Any rate I'm all set to head out and figure it out if needed. It's better to ask for forgiveness than it is for permision

Baron, Canada has that mountain air all over the whole country huh?

Hey Fry,

School goes. Only one more year. Do you still know the fellow out near you who had the '97 or '99 husaberg? I have some plastics that are not for my '98 but for a '97 or 99.

Lubbz,

You will have to go to a local watering hole called Cowboys. As they say in France "tres ****s"! Actually, I have found that San Diego has the title as babeland in my books.

Shayne.

The requirements for the bikes have just, in the last year become an issue. Two years ago you could have rode a mxer around where ever you wanted to. That is more the reason of the vagueness at this time. I would just hate for one of you guys to learn how they want it the hard way, so no worries, I'll get it defined very well.

Baron, I really don't think that it would be right to have a UHE ride in Canada, especially in the pass without your presence!!! Cowboy's, and plastic in the same post!!!!!

Husky Highway

Fry,

I've been busy trying to get ready to head to West Virgina for the Force ride next weekend...man I can't believe it is so soon...I have not paid much attention to this event. Now that it looks like you might really make this happen....IM IN!!!!!!!!!!!

For the folks reading this thread from far away places, the Crowsnest Pass is an absolutely amazing place to ride. Canadian Rockies at their best. Now that I am back living with the lobster fishermen on the east coast, I have frequent daydreams of riding in that area. If you choose to go...you will never regret it and will spend the rest of your life trying to go back.

Oh by the way, it is also home to the toughest Cross Country race that I have ever experienced. You spend most of the race swearing that you will never ride a dirt bike again  but as soon as you finish you start planning for the next year :D

Fry, Are you going to run the crew through the "Husky Highway"?

You should post some pics from that area so people can see what we are talking about...what about that video clip of you throwing it away over that huge log 8O I thought it was on Doug's website?
