various rumours doing the rounds of where he's going

husky, honda, kawasaki, yamaha

husky has got a good team and cant see room for him there plus they're BMW owned so if he's pissed of BMW they're hardly going to employ him again.

honda, maybe

kawasaki, think this has only come about as he dates Tarah Gieger the kawasaki WMX rider

yamaha, haven't really got anyone doing anything in the WEC, but they did effectivly withdraw from it this year.
 
Yeah, Husaberg for DK would be great to watch but it means going back to KTM .

You would presume from a business view that he has already secured a contract elsewhere before opting out of the one with BMW.

Maybe hes too busy shagging Livi and hes taken his eye off the ball ?

After all, the rider who came 3rd in the erzberg was on a BMW450.
 
Well thats very interesting. I always thought a good rider could ride any bike?

i'd love to see him on the berg word is he's been riding 1 back in the iom but if juha salminen is struggling it's obviously not a quick fix and not really a major concern to bmw to tackle it what with the credit crunch and all............would you buy one?

They had 2 in the top 5 last year as well. Forster podiumed at Romaniacs last year. They seem to work well in the extreme conditions, but when it comes to riding at top level WEC, they lack. Even Anders Erikson had no real performance issues last year, he finished where everyone expected.
 
Knight and BMW part company by mutual consent!

Two‐time World Enduro Champion and double winner of the US Grand National
Cross Country Series David Knight has ended his working relationship with the
BMW Motorrad Motorsport enduro team. With immediate effect, and by mutual
consent, Knight has been released from his contractual obligations with BMW and
will take no further part in the ’09 WEC series for the team, starting with this
weekend’s GP of Slovakia.

Joining the BMW Motorrad Motorsport team at the start of ’09 Knight had high
hopes of delivering continued successes for BMW in the Enduro 3 class on his
return to the World Enduro Championship. Following disappointing results during
the first half of the ’09 WEC season, having failed to gel with his race bike, David
requested that he be released from his contract.

A further announcement will be made in the coming weeks regarding David’s
plans to return to racing.

David Knight: “Leaving a team that’s worked hard to give me the bike I wanted
wasn’t easy, but I felt that it was the only decision for me to take. It’s not been an
easy decision but things simply weren’t working out the way I, or BMW, hoped
they would, which wasn’t good for anyone. I’d like to thank the team for their
continued support, especially during the last few months where we tried really
hard to work things out.

“I simply felt that I couldn’t move forward with the bike. My performances
weren’t what I, or the team, hoped they’d be, which I think everyone could see.
The bike simply didn’t suit my way of riding, it’s as simple as that. Like I said the
team worked hard to give me what I wanted but in the end I felt it was best that I
walked away. I’d like to wish BMW all the very best for the rest of this season.
“Returning to the WEC was something that I was really excited about during last
winter. After two successful years in the US I was 100 per cent focused on winning
a third world title in ‘09. Despite disappointing results and performances during
the first half of the championship I’ve enjoyed my time with the team, as well as
competing in the WEC again, and I’m grateful that we were able to end our
working relationship in a good way.â€Â
 
watched an interview with salminen after he finished 2nd in finland. he said they'd changed the bike and he'd also changed how he rides but that the bike was still along way from being right and he didnt look to happy about it.

i would imagine that whilst the bike is probably good enough for knighter to win at national levels, which he's done, they just cant get it right for that extra you need at world level.

and i'd imagine at the speeds they're going it needs to be right.

apparently he's going to be going to a make that you wouldnt obviously think of. possibly one of the japanese bikes.

im betting kawasaki or honda.
 
i saw the same interview and yes short of him saying the bikes a piece of **** his face said it all, i allmost got the impression that bmw wasnt interested in resolving what ever problem it is they wont be able to fix it some time soon
 
A recent article in TBM magazine all the BMW head honcho Marcus Theobold kept saying was the bike was set up to comply with Euro3 regulations that haven't even come into effect............ every other answer was "its the only bike in the field that meets the euro3 regs"
I can imagine Knighter got fed up with hearing that.

Well maybe not quite like that but you never know!
 
i think the main problem was the handling, which is rather important at any speed let alone WEC speeds.

alot of gossip has got him goin green on a 450 but there is going to be an announcement in the next week.

on a different subject did anyone see Antoine Meo jump that log that everyone else was riding over. how trick was that!

hasn't got the approach but he come in twice as fast as everyone else then launches off something and sort of 'hip-jumps' it over the log.

everyone else was slowing down and riding over it.
 
He's got himself a HM Honda 450 at home and he reckons he's quicker on it than his KTM.A deal was on the table with Husaberg but he refused.

honda has an e3 and e1 rider doing well but cant think of a honda doing well in e2 so he could slip in there nicely.
 
though on knighter.net he says himself that he's not going to be able to get to snowshoe, though this was before he left bmw, so he might have a bit more time on his hands.

if he is on a kawasaki, their 450 seems an awesome machine.

also seen an uncomfirmed report that there was also a deal to ride husaberg but he declined it.

though if he aint got a deal he could ride what he likes.

last year crockard was riding husky in america then whatever he liked anywhere else and previously paul edmondson was riding a ktm in WEC competition but a suzuki everywhere else.

thought it has to be pointed out that neither of these two setups seedm to produce teh goods so sticking to one make might be the best bet.

funny you should say that.

juan knight recently won an enduro using a 10 yr old 300 gasgas engine he'd shoved in something like a 2005 suzuki rolling chassis.

though it has to be said that he is arguably as talented as his younger brother but just chose not to follow the same path, so probably could have won on almost anything
