I have been getting mixed information regarding the valve shims used on a 2014 fe 501 USA/Canada bike.
can anyone confirm are the shims 8.90mm or 10.0 mm ?
Thanks
Greg
I read that the valve clearance is supposed to be 0,10mm. I'm not exactly sure what that means? Am I supposed to use the 10mm for the intake and exhaust? Is there a tolerance or is it only 10mm?
Thanks for your help.
Im converting a set of Behr supermoto wheels to be tubeless.
I was wondering what is the preferred tubeless valve stem that some of you guys are using.
Any input is appreciated.

So I just pulled my engine on my 2011 fe570 for the first time while doing some other work to the bike and I'm considering changing out the valves. From what I understand the intake valves are titanium and the exhaust valves are steel. I've heard a number of KTM riders have swapped out titanium...
2003 fs650e, I picked this up of a friend (ex friend now) it had not been started in nearly 3 years.
Put fresh fuel and oil in, no start.
Stript carby and clean, new plug, no start.
Then thought I would do the valves, spent hrs on the www, looked easy enough, intake slightly out, exhaust way...
It has been happening like a thick fog now for some time, you just plough on and get the job done but I recently fitted a sprucwe up kit to a dell orto 409mm carb and to get thew float arms right I had to bend them up.
I have noticed this before and not thought too much of it but a job this...
howdy ya'll, I recently purchased a real cheap old berg, entire top end was dickered, and have been steadily replacing and fixing the bike and engine.
I ordered a new head from somewhere in Yankee land and when it arrived it only had three out of four valve shims.
I've been looking...
Hi All,
I'm new to the Bikes (well since owning one as a kid) but got myself a fe550.
giving it a good overhaul before its maiden ride (chain, sprockets etc etc) but have decided to check the valves and adjust where needed.
Now I watched the vid on you tube (quite an easy process)...
Husaberg 650fs 2002. I buy it for 2 week ago.
The engine eats oil, after riding around 1 hour and it has takes around 2-3dl of oil. Not smoking, and no leaking? Dont se oil in the engine glass when the bike is off and straight.
I have adjust the valves to, with 1/6, but i think i have little...
I don't know what the hell is going on but the valve guides for the 2004-2008s are way too loose all of a sudden! this is both inlets and exhausts. basically when and after being fitted, the valves wobble by 2mm which is why I changed the friggin guides anyway!
we also have a 1996 here as...
Hi guys, i own a 06 fe450 and it became hard to start. Had to hold throttle whe. It did start as it would not idle. I brought the bike to my mechanic and he checked it. He said one exhaust valve spring on the right side has broken.
Now, is that a common failure?
Thanks
I am looking for a valve cover for my fe650 from 2005. The valve cover should be the same of the 450 and 550 models from 2005. I need the cover without the waterpump on the cover.
Hey everyone,
I adjusted the valves on my 1994 FC501 today and hooked everything up to try and start it. (I bought this bike in nonrunning condition and haven't had it started) I first put the bike in TDC and verified that the piston was at its highest point with a dial indicator. A mark...
I was wondering how many people are getting over 200hrs on the single valve springs without going DVSK. I took an 05 FE650 to 180 hrs without DVSK before selling. I also sold another 05 Fe650 that has about 220hrs no DVSK. My 06 FS650 is at 145hrs but the previous owner had 1 spring break around...
