Hi chaps! Just another new member saying HI :) I picked up my '05 FE550e on Saturday 8O My previous bike was a DRZ400 (a very underrated bike), among others.

I did 130k's on Sunday on the new beast, and just have not stopped raving since 8O On the test ride it felt far more "at home" than any EXC or WR I ever rode, and this impression was bourne out on Sunday big time  I even ended up towing another bike back that was having mechanical troubles - take that, VOR 8)

Anyway, here's a couple of links to pics from the first of many rides with this awesome machine.

Bling Bling :)

I never knew a bike could be this good. Really. Changes lines, flicks, controllable power, handles... :D

Luvin it!

p.s. The dealer I bought it off, R&M Motorcycles in Coffs Harbour, NSW Australia, is by far the best and most enthusiastic dealer I've come across. Not only did he let the bike sell itself, he bent over backwards to get the bike ready quickly and set it up specially for me and is sending a smaller sprocket free of charge, not to mention all the setup effort he went to with free or cost price bashplate etc... I guess that's what you get for having an "enthusiast's bike", you get an enthusiast dealer which is worth it's weight in gold :D

good to hear knope welcome to the sight and hope you have many kilometres of trouble free riding

cheers doug
(makes me wanna go buy a new one :( )

It's no good, I have to reply to myself, cant stop talking about it and the people at work are going to lynch me soon 8O

This is what I had done before I took posession:
- Upped the spring rates two steps at both ends (i.e. 0.46 front, not sure rear) - I am 100kg in gear.
- Bashplate (B&B Aluminium - http://www.bbaluminium.com)
- Barkbuster EGO handguards - the stockers would not take tree bashing well...
- Exhaust pipe guard - from B&B as well
- Raised the bars 1" with spacers - I am 6'3" and it feels good now. Big fan of the new straighter '05 bars btw
- Radiator guards
- Smaller rear guard extender on the way (stocker too heavy and stresses its mountings too much on rough ground IMO)
- 14 tooth c/s sprocket on the way (down from 15 stock) as I ride some pretty tight stuff
:D

Knopey.

Is´nt it great when you feel like on the top of the world, bursting with happyness.......

It´s good that you have discovered the husabergs.
Welcome to one of off-roads best kept secrets, the 550 motor

I discovered them 1996 when I bought my first one.

Jesus, they were so far ahead from the other makers.

Although they do not have the big advantage they had in those years they still are exclusive in terms of motor and frame design.

AND as you perhaps know most other manufactures, including KTM and Honda took a hard look at the s before they themselves came out with a lightweight powerful thumper.

I was riding with a KTM 520 2004 model with the full KTM parts katalog, including a 540 kit and special race exhaust.

We were going fast on high speed gravel roads (up to 140 km/h)
We were dead even through all gears.

By the way my bike is stone stock 550 2001 model. Not one dime spent in performance parts like the 540 KTM

Like I told my friend ;
I have had your performance for 4 years now in a stone stock bike.

And yes. The berg has been reliable.

Happy grinning
