Wossner Piston?? & Liner repairable??

Hi I need a new piston for my '08 FE550.

What make is the standard piston that Husaberg use?

Are Wossner pistons any good? They seem it from what I've read. They are also much cheaper than the price I've been quoted from a dealer for an OEM piston- over £250!!

Seen the Wossner pistons at £120- http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWAX:IT

Also is this liner re-usable/repairable?- I've smoothed it and it isn't really rough or guaged etc. It's not as bad as it looks in the photo and is towards the bottom.

Thanks

Looks UGLY. Repair and replate at the least. If it were mine I would replace it.

Once the coating of the cylinder is worn to a degree that the aloy undeneeth is visible, the cylinder needs refurbishing.

Regarding pistons - Wossner shoukd be better then Wiseco. If it were my machine - I'd opt for Arias, Elko or Omega pistons. Of course - piston must be forged.

Thanks for the reply, I will get the liner refurbished.

Where's best to find information on those makes of piston. All I can find in the UK is Wossner, which are forged. Do you know what Husaberg use as standard?

Husaberg use Elko/Mahle and they won't sell to anyone but Husaberg their products.

you should be looking beyond standard for racing applications I should have thought.

Are Wossner any good? They're a lot cheaper than buying oem from a dealer. Where can I get the liner refurbished?

Not having a lot of luck with the dealers who just want to sell me stuff and not anything else.

Well I just meant the dealers I've spoken to haven't really given me much advice (if any) on any make of pistons, and just list the price of replacing the liner, not offering to repair.

Yeah just seen you sell them and refurb liners. Just wondering how good Wossner actually are that's all. :)

I know I exist but I can see that others may not have noticed the blood coursing through my veins! :p :p

Woessners are fine. they always behave better with oil in the bikes and lubrication for the 2005+.

I can probably find you a little extra performance if you can tell me the squish clearance on yours otherwise yeh, I can do whatever.

:)

Well I can't understand why this has happened in the first place, I always change the oil and filter after every race and regulary check the valve clearances. I put fresh oil in the night before my last race and 20 minutes into the race, the bike lost compression and this happens.

After stripping the engine down, a lot of oil has been lost. Where the hells it all gone? I did find bits of silicone where it shouldn't be- the oilway in the casing blocking it (presumably put there by the dealer that I had sort the bike out, after it took the dip in some water last year)

Baffles me to be honest. Well the liners with someone at the moment now, I'll keep you posted.
