Started@ 18:
Triumph speed four (used) (naked bike 600cc)
After 6 months I bought a used cbr 125r next to the triumph.
After a few months I sold that cbr again and bought my first (used) supermoto smr450 husqvarna.
Than I sold my speed four after 2 years and traded the husqvarna smr for a brand new fs 650.
After havind the berg a few months as my only transportation (no car license yet) I bought a used kawasaki er-5 for longer a-b rides.
Sold the er-5 after a few months and ordered a street triple (few months delivery time but it was winter so no problem still owned the berg..).
After 2 years with my 2nd triumph I sold that bike and bought my 1st racer (zx10r 2004).
Still owned husaberg... but sold it after a few months owning zx10...
The year after that I bought myself my 1st 2 stroke rs250 aprilia but that was my worst bike I ever owned barely ridden it always problems with it so sold it in parts after a few months during winter
Than I was missing my hsb when it got summer... and got myself a (very litlle) used fs 570
Year after that I sold the zx10 (owned 2 years) and bought a zx6r 2010.
I still own my fs 570 and love it!!! (sold zx6r in august and bought a 2005 gsx-r 1000 8) )
I also like road bikes but the 570 I had for the longest now and I am not thinking about selling it yet it has been great so far :D

Returned to biking after twenty years away, finally did Direct Access test late last year.

XT600E brilliant winter hack and first bike (excluding those in my youth!)
rode that through the snow/rain of the winter, sold that and bought a Husky Nuda 900, then off to Afghan early 2013 with Army for six months.

Came back to UK Sept, bought another XT600E for winter.

Just sold the Nuda, bought a WR426 which has been a disaster! after a massive backfire trying to start it (yes, i flooded it!) the timing now seems to be out - sounds ominous!
Needed a bike so px'd the XT against a Husaberg FE501. Best bike by far, but had little time to ride it so far......

I love this thread because it says something very interesting. Back in 1995, a marketing survey stated that the average Ducati purchaser had over 14 years of riding experience and owned over 8 bikes prior to purchasing a Ducati. From this thread, it appears to be much the same. You don't run into many "first time" riders with a 'berg. In fact, I often run into self anointed "seasoned" riders that have never heard of my berg. In order of ownership

1972 Bultaco Pursang
1975 CB400f Supersport
1991 FZR 750
1995 Ducati 916
1969 Ducati Jupiter
74 RD 350
93 gs500
2000 Suzuki SV650
a bunch of other unremarkable bikes like the one stated above (commuting)
2005 Husaberg FS650c (my favorite bike of all time!)

Good point Goose!

I think after so many bikes one becomes bored with owning the "norm".

The kawa, suzuki and berg I still own and (ab) use :)
The reason why I bought the berg was that I came across a almost brand new (8h when I bought It) and I always wanted to try the power of a berg 650.

In 1982 a Suzuki GS450L 79' model
6 months later a 1981 KZ650 (I-4) I rode it for 4 years.

A very long time passed..

I never really rode a dirtbike cept maybe an XR100 in the empty lot as a kid.

2010? I started looking at bikes. I looked at all the usual suspects, meh...
Then found a 2005 FS650
Then shortly thereafter..
2005 FE550
2005 FE650

Hey there

started when I was 7 in 1990
Honda QR50 '88
Kawasaki KDX80 '84
Kawasaki KDX175 '86
Honda XR600 '86
KTM300 '92
Honda CRF450X '06
CR500 '96(Which I later built the engine into the 450X frame)
CR500 '86
Husaberg FS650 '08

After my first dose of HusA, I sold the CR500 AFX, and bought...
FE501 '03
FX470 '02

I still have the XR600 and the three BerG's

I have been riding motorcycles since I was 14-ish

1972 GT80
2 early 80's YZ100's
1984 CR125
1973 Husky 450 Desert Master
1979 XR250- best memories
1986 KTM 250MX
1984 Tecate ATC
1989 CR500
2002 CR500AF- with Boondockers nitrous kit- sold :-(
1996 Polaris 400L
2002 ZX1200R Ninja
2005 TRX450R
2-1991 CR500's- 0ne became a custom resto/mod show bike that won first place in a bike show and was in two magazines etc. I still have it.
1982 CR480- current vintage race bike
2002 ZRX1200R Eddie Lawson Edition
1982 YZ490
1998 380MXC
1991 FC501 Malcolm Smith Edition I took in trade- in process of minor restoration

I wanted a dual sport that had the power to weight ratio of a CR500. I ran across the rare in the US 08 FE650 with super low hours and I had to have it. If I could only keep one of my 4 current bikes it would be the 650 because it is so versatile.

As a kid:

Honda ATC90 trike ( unknown year 70's?)
1973 Yamaha DT175

Then i discovered cars and spent many years pouring loads of cash into too many of them!
My best mate moved to a rural area and got himself a bike. He bugged me for ages trying to convince me that i needed one so we could ride together. I thought it was a good idea because i loved riding when i was a kid but because i hadn't been on a bike for so long i figured i needed something fairly sedate to learn on.

1996 Kawasaki KLX300
2007 GT 125 pitbike ( for a bit of backyard fun!)

That bike served it's purpose but i outgrew it very quickly! I was getting tired of my mate roosting past me on his HUSABERG! He moved onto a KTM EXC450 and i took ownership of his berg!

1999 Husaberg FE400
2004 KTM EXC450 ( I claim ownership for 2 weeks as i passed it from my mate to my cousin)
2007 Husaberg FE550
2000 Triumph Sprint 955i
2010 Husaberg FE570 ( my first "brand new" bike)
1999 Husaberg FE600

I don't think i could be without a bike these days and i cant see myself ever selling my 570! I still love cars ( i currently own seven!) but this is not the place to talk about that!

I just noticed the years of my KLX and my pitbike don't match my list at the bottom! I cant remember which is correct and i dont think it matters for those two anyway, ha ha!
