Water getting into battery cables.

The factory heat shrink tubing on my battery cables were not of the highest quality. They have all split and allowed water to get into the cable strands. I cleaned everything up and used an industrial double walled heat shrink tubing on all 6 battery cable ends. The double walled means it has a sealer type inner layer. I would highly recommend this to anyone with E-start. http://www.husaberg.org/uploads/volvonut/IM000137.JPG

Cut it to length, slip it over the cable while it's disconnected and apply heat ,such as a heat gun. They sell different colors and sizes. This particular stuff is from Hi-Line. It will run about $3-$10 per foot. The double walled is the key! It acts like a glue.

Ok thanks :)

What gauge do you recommend, what type of wiring and what type of connectors?

The heat shrink tubing has writing on it and the package too if it comes in one, stating it's gauge range. Like 8/10 or 2/4 etc. Select the correct gauge range tubing for the particular application. This stuff can be used on almost any wire/connector combo.

Underwater submersible pump splice kits are usually available at home depot and the likes. Are precut 2 inches or so in length and come 4 to a kit for around $4.
