Phoenix Arizona
Well all,
I have kicked this around for a few months now and seem to have some interest.
I am proposing a Force ride in the Phoenix area with all comers welcome.
The dates proposed are Feb. 1st throught the 5th (Wednesday-Sunday). The 5th we will be having a National Enduro here (format undecided as yet). It will be an excellent oppurtunity to spectate or even compete in a national event (there will be classes from AA to C). All of your favorites should be in attendance... Lafferty, Hatch, Davis,Abbott and Hoess to name a few.
Daily rides will be in many of the excellent local riding areas we have as well as previouse years Enduro and Desert Scramble courses. There will be rides available for all skill and endurance levels.
I personnaly think it would be excellent national exposure to have say...20 or 30 Bergs show up. I we could have a handfull in the race, that would be even better.
This will be a chance for some of you cold weather guy's to actually ride in mid winter . High temps usually run between 55 and 70F.

If I can get some idea of the interst level I can start working of different accomodation ideas. I would like to keep this as low budget as possible for all involved.
Here is a link to some helmet cam video's of some of the local riding trails and area's.

We can make this thing as big or as small as we want to. Any idea's or comments are welcome.

Cheers,
Ken

For those who don't want to compete in a national event: don't be scared and/or shy. We'll have group rides in different riding areas.

We have all type of riding possible over here: jeep trails, single tracks (some pretty nice and which require some good skills), sand washes, wide open desert and of course your regular ATV trail.

Some of the riding areas are about 1 hour apart from each other, but we'll be gone for entire days.

Berger and I can host, although I am a bit farther in the East (Mesa limit Apache Junction) but I am 20 minutes away from Sycamore Creek, the best spot for technical STs plus it has all sorts of trails, not as scenic as what you will find by Berger's but nice as well.

We don't have to compete you say? I will be home by then and I may be interested. I am a maybe for now though, I will have to see how things go for me when I get home before I can commit. Plus I don't know if I will be ready for the desert again so soon  Yeah, and low budget would be fine all I need is room for me and the berg to cuddle.

Sounds like a fun time.

Unfortunately February is not a good time for me next year, so I will have to pass.

What about the ride in Canada? I thought that the Canada ride in August of '06 was going to be the "Force Ride"? What's the word Fryguy? Maybe there wasn't enough interest? Personally, I was looking forward to an awesome ride there and maybe a couple of short rides in Montana and Nevada on the way home.

If enough Husaberg's show up in Arizona during the National, maybe someone will take notice and take a picture and put it in a magazine. One can only hope.

Take care,
Mike

Hey Mike,
We got in 2 force rides in 05. I figured 2 in 06 would not be a problem. As far as I know Canada is still ago. As far a Canada, I'm not sure if I will be physically or fianncialy able to do that one. Time will tell.

Lubbz,
You are more than welcome out here. I know we can find a place for you and your Berg.
As far as the desert goes, the pricks you will get out here are not nearly as bad as the ones you are dealing with now  .

Berger,

As I live in the Valley, I will be at most if not all the rides. Sounds like a good time to meet some of the people from the site and see some of the bergs in action.

Regards,

so whats the real poop with this az ride?
who's going?
who's waiting for their b@lls to drop?
what englishman cant make it because its 6,000 miles away and costs a small fortune?
what canadians are too busy eating canadian bacon [its round ham man]?
what las vegas riders are silly [i'm being nice] enough to ride together?
tuts

Berger,
Seeing a National and riding for a few days will work for me. Always wanted to check out the AZ desert. Nice excuse to go down there, so count me in. I'll see ya there.

The banter is on, and I really wish I could attend. Then comes the BUT. Work in the middle of winter will be very hard to get away from. Don't think that feeding cows in -30 is more romantic that hangin out with some fellow bergites, its just the way thing work.

You guys have fun riding Az desert in Feb and hopefully you can ride the the Canadian Rockies in Aug. Thats the plan, man.

all enjoy

fry

Feeding cows in 30 bellow? I didn't think about doing that! Now I cant decide what I want to do  Fry, I am still plaining on the Aug trip.

As far as AZ ride I am more on the yes side right now and if I work my things out it should not be a problem.

the bellow isn't that loud at that temp either, sort of a weak 'feed me' bellow

see ya in Aug

Too sad I would have liked to see you and your two friends as well, especially the tiny dude who ate like three

My son still talks about it 6 months after.

Dirt Rider 24hr

It looks like the Dirt Rider mag 24hr torture test will take place in Gorman CA the weekend prior to this ride, so it's a realy possibility that our BMG contingent will rock it's way to AZ. Nothing is in stone yet, but I'll keep you in the loop :)

Cheers,

Brett Saunders

Hey Berger,

As I was telling you the other day, the Baby Coffin arrives 2 months prior to your event so it may make it hard to get away. I will do everything I can to go though. I'd love to ride down there and visit with you again especially because we didn't get to spend much time together in Reno.

Fry...its only a couple of days. If I can leave the newborn without getting divorced, you should be able to get someone to feed those smelly old cows for a day or 2

Guaranteed I won't miss the Rockies Ride in August nor should anyone else who can pull it off.

Cheers...Marc

Coffin

Here is an idea.

We go to Pheonix, do all sorts of manly things, maybe my little friends will come too

send your wife to my house, Terri can cluck over the newborn and they'll all be happy feeding cows!!!

Hmmm...interesting. Not sure how keen mom will be on that with a 2 month old but that is exactly the kind of thing I had in mind for the August ride...when the munchkin is 8 months

I'm in. I just need a bike. Anyone got a spare Berg for me????

By the way, Ken, remind me to kiss you next time I see because of the dates you have chosen!!!!!!!!

More details to come....

Hey Luke,
Thats great that thoses dates work for you. I knew you were coming back to the states for a wedding in Feb..
We will have to work on the bike end of it. We will see how it's all shaking out in a month or so.

not to mention the mighty mighty velosapiens. i was already planning on going down for a few days to race the national, and hopefully ride a bit better than last year, but i definitely won't have a berg by then, so taffy might cry great crocodile tears  .

i'll be racing sr a's, in case anyone wants a slow minute-mate that won't get in the way and might get lost again. heh heh.

You are more than welcome to come along Mark, Husaberg or not.
This may not be a time keeping event this year, the format has not been determined yet.
