Turning ratio

I tried Berger's 496 and it has a much much nicer turning ratio than my 2001.

How can I improve the way my bike turns? I don't expect to make it as nice and easy to turn but any advice would help!

lets see how about eating loads of big macs and other sh..t then rest your supa size frame right over the bars the sucker should turn real sweet !

Ok so I supersize the amount of fork over the clamp?

Frog, check your steering stops, adjust them so you have the maximum fork movement lock to lock. Your fork will hit either the right side radiator mounting bolt or your radiator guards. Then re-adjust so the fork just misses what ever it is hitting. I think you will find that you can turn the bars farther to the left, than to the right. If you are hitting the rad guard, drop me a PM, I have a rad guard to solve that problem

It's not really the steering stop, it's a question of ease of steer, just wondering if it can be improved in anyway. The stops just define how far you can turn to one side or the other.

Slide forks through and up in clamps 6 mm and see if you can detect a change, add rear preload to similar effect.

Sorry Frog, I missenterpreted your question In addition to what Steve said in his post, tire selection and air presure also have an effect.

how many times are you going to circumvent a direct question to me!!!!

all, and i do mean ALL the detaiuls are in the doc. if you understood the doc then why the question? if you didn't understand the doc then what bits donchya get?

it's laid out real easy for you. i thinbk you need to get off your fat arse and go and try some of the things out. took me hours so that you could take minutes.

you give france such a bad image mate i tell you..........

What if your doc did not answer my question, Taffy?

It just does not. The "Handling" section does not explain how to make the bike turn more sharply.

Just go back to the drawing board and allow me to ask and answer the questions I want.

If this is not too much to ask from you.

You can also throw away your own Web site and set up your own rules, it can be done for less than 10 bucks nowadays (and that includes a domain name).

You try this,grease the steering bearings and with the frontend off the ground, tighten to suite. That makes a big difference in the way a bike steers. Not a hard job but can be greasey . Hope this helps

i believe the doc explains the difference between a chopper and a speedway bike and then talks of raising and dropping the forks.

you see froggy. your trouble is, you're like a kid that threw a box of jigsaw bits on the table and insists on help with every, and i mean EVERY single peice!

but the fact is, the more you fill in, the more you will be able to do yourself and most of all it's very enjoyable!!!!! it's fun!

but you can't be lazy about it! i go riding for the day and the devil on one shoulder just wannts me to ride - to not go the wrong way with any settings. the angel on the other tells me that it'll be hard wiork but to get on with it.

when i first started i made a coupla wrong moves but now, like a jigsaw with just a few peices left to place in, i just keep guessing right every time!

i shall go into the doc and make it froggyfied for you ok?

every site needs one and we got you....

Taffy, now I got the idea but you have to understand your English is a little different that what we're used to over here. I sometimes have to explain myself several times because of that.

Now, it seems that what I need to do is get myself a triple clamp for a parted out KTM on eBay and, if I know an engineer (let's pretend I know such a fellow), all I would need would be to draw some spacers in a CAD software and pay him to machine the parts for me and then it should all fit, and it should turn my Peugeot into a Rolls Royce, am I right?

That's what impressed me the most in Berger's bike, the handling was amazingly comfy.

Another advantage would be that I could find a less expensive stabilizer for my bike once I have the KTM clamps.

He has a newer Husaberg and what's on there are the standard KTM clamps.

How many bar positions do you have fore & aft? The further the bars are away form the center of the steering stem the harder the bars will be to turn. If you can comfortably move the bars closer to the center that will change the "feel".

hmmm? I thought the Husaberg had 22mm clamps and the KTM had 18mm clamps. You better have berger check the PN. Look at the last 2 digits.

There is no option on the 2001 Husa-bars. There is one hole on each side. There are also no raisers that you can use to get some sort of offset. Logjump machined me a set and was nice enough to mail them to me. You can check my gallery, it shows you what the clamp looks like and how the raisers are adapted. I intend to take photos each time I mod the bike.

The #1 item on my list is the autoclutch, following that I guess the KTM clamps.

I think you have 4357 forks, right? If you could have some spacer bushings made for them I have a set of 18mm HardParts KTM clamps for the 48mm forks for-sale. Should have washed them before I took this picture...

I don't exactly know, all I know is that his is an 06, has lots of customized parts but still has the standard clamp on it.

So I guess the offset is 22. What is it on the 01 with the older clamps?

All I know is that his steers a lot more easily than mine and I want that. I don't know if it is the angle of the steering column or what, and that's what I am trying to determine.
