Hi guys and gals I am looking at doing a long ride through varying terrain and want some advice from you all.

Remembering I have to ride with this stuff in my backpack.

What tools should i take? (spanners (most common ones for berg) AlenKeys sizes would be good, sparkplug socket, screwdriver. tyre leavers) Or any invetions of multi tools you have made that work great for your berg.

What spares should I take? (Pump, tube, patches, plug umm not sure you tell me)

Any other things I should take?

I look forward to hearing from you all.
I already have a camelbak for hydration purposes.

I can give you a list of things I carry.
1) Cell phone
2) GPS
3) Current maps
4) 100 oz Camelpack
5) At least 1 tube, the front can be used in the rear in a pinch.
6) patch kit
7) CO2 inflaters
8) The factory tool kit
9) safety wire kit
10) side cutters capable of cutting barbed wire
11) spoke wrench
12) electrical tape
13) 2 spark plugs
14) a good knife (american knife not an aussie knife)
15) matches in waterproof container
16) protein bars ect. with a long shelf life
17) $$ including phone change
18) tire gauge
19) tire irons
opitional items-
poncho
small caliber hand gun
aspiran ect..

Something I will start carrying-
Contact phone numbers and medical information

I also believe in running slime in both tubes

This is my long trip pack, I carry less on shorter trips.
I try to keep 2 separate packs 1 short trip, 1 for long.

I'm sure others can add to this.

Tow rope, Buddy with a xr600 air cooled. HA HA HA This is only funny because I was towed by same for over 80 miles last summer on my 501.
On a two day trip I would also include a quart of oil because they all use some and a space blanket if it may get cool at night.

What sort of tool kit should I have got with my berg? I got it this year new it is an 02 model though. I only got a screwdriver and a sparkplug socket. I will contact my dealer if i was supposed to recieve more than that.

My brother forgot to pack extra shoes and ended up walking barefoot on the slimiest pub floor carpet you have ever seen.

Same trip a mate pulled out a battey powered electric toothbrush! :?: We have never let him forget it.

Ropes on two bikes are a good idea. We once lashed a mate's front wheel to a tree and pulled his left handlebar up from beside the tank with another bike.

do not put your tools in your back pack.get a good fanny pack i use the one from moose racing. good quality nice layout .when we do the mexico tours i take all kinds of things not just things berg related because i maintain about 12 klrs on those trips .but a good place to start is the tool kit from husaberg. you only need three alen wrenchs.electrical tape.hose clamps small and large.many uses..one of the small universal bit screw drivers from auto zone.bick lighter.tie wire.small adjustable wrench.tow rope. long tie wraps.i also take two of the coleman fuel bottels that they sell at wall mart for back packers .full of gas tied on to my rack on the back of the bike.i have a small eight ounce bottle full of my favorite motor oil.all of the gas and oil will fit in a moose large size fender pack .very nice a must for long distance.also run the moose small front fender pack with a 21 inch tube and tire irons on the front fender...slime is a very good idea also ..i could go on my bike looks like a rolling service center when we leave.but keep your back pack light as possible and find ways to put what you need on the bike itself trust me it will pay big comfort divedends by the end of the trip...tim

tools to take

My first dual sport trip was last weekend, didnt trust my bike yet so I took almost every tool I could think of,along with oil,and an extra container for gas.My fannypack must have weighed over 20 pounds!I lashed everything on bergdaddys luggage rack.I never felt anything.I highly recomend the rack even my buddies on DRZs were pretty impressed!Only problem I had was lifting my leg high enough to get on the saddle! Thanks Tim!

Great advice guys sounds like i need another set of plastics as i will wreck the ones i have at the rear by bolting on stuff. Is there a pic of Bergdaddy's luggage rack? I guess i can check the gallery. Anyway I am taking in all this advice and will let you know what I take.
