2 Days with a 2009 Berg

Hi Again,
I don't think this will work, as the valve area in the head is over a too larger area for what size piston would be needed to make the numbers work. But a good project all the same!
Best Regards

yeah sort of what I figured, how different was the 250 RFS head to the 400 one re this type of issue ???

From memory the RFS250 had smaller valves? especially compared to what we have now. But those RFS were really slow...remmember they brought out a 350kit to wake the thing up, then it was a hoot to ride.

hmmm will have to look futher into this frankenstine '09 450/250

the view is it may make an interesting platform for the 250cc category for the Aus Safari next year !!!

Doesn't need to be WR 250 fast, just reliable, durable and able to be ridden with good pace and momentum eg 125GP style apporach on the dirt, never shut it off !! A skilled rider could clean up the class category as it often gets overlooked on the Safari

Hi Mate,
There is no doubt the bike is a winner! but you do have a valid point about the drive of the motor, it is very good in that department, but where you save energy from not having to muscle the bike to change direction you can use on holding yourself up on the front properly and hence, make the bike steer the way it is meant to.
If you are in Sydney you are welcome to come out on the 26th of this month to our Demo Day there is another post about it on the forum or call me on 02 47311173.
If you do decide to go down the 280 kitted bike I do have bikes 2008 & 2009's and big bore kits available.
And if you want a 400cc 2009 Berg I think I can make one for you as well, it would be a little softer on the power but still have more than a kitted 250 and all the attributes of the Berg? Food for thought?
Best Regards

Thanks for the reply,

I had to see for myself how good these things were so i went to Gecko motorcycles in canberra and peter was good enough to lend me his demo for the day.
Definately very impressed and feel its the next step above my 08 450 EXC-R.
Found the bike very well balanced, the fuel injection i found actually makes the power smoother in comparison to my KTM 450. Suspension felt bloody close for a bike just out of the crate.
For anyone wondering how many kays they do on a tank when riding reasonably hard its about 100k's max. I found out the hard way and with no reserve we had to do a fuel run back to the car.
Feel its definately going to be a very competative bike, about 80% sure at this stage i will get one, hopefuly be riding a 09 250 EXC-F in 2 weeks so should be able to make my mind up then. would be handy if it was a 280 kitted 250 though.

Cheers.

You guys got me thinking with this 450 sleve down. How about slevin up the 570 to a 600 or so. Maybe a 630. That way maybe we can get close to 70hp at the wheel. All those who love Big power say Yay.

I have heard third hand that this question has been asked of the Berg R&D engine team and they said the current '09 570 barrel will only go to 600cc maximum

That's perfect! I'll take one. And make it street legal in CA. My 05 has 628 so then the 600 don't sound so bad.
