The UHE would be better if(your input needed)

Hi

Two things that would aply to this post:

First, this post has 3 pages and when I open it, it goes to the first, usualy it would go to the last ??

Second, in one post like this, that has started some time ago, it was good to have the date of each post on them.

Hi there Zaga :)

You can still get to the last post. I created the front block to mimic the forum, so you have the ability to get to the first, last and first unread post. Here's a quick rundown:

file.php

1) Quick link to view all unread posts. This is a very convenient way of finding all the posts you've missed since your last visit.

2) Mark all forums as read. This will give you a clean slate and only future posts would show up as unread to you and none made before you clicked that link(even the ones you hadn't read.

3) View first unread post. This link will only show up on threads with posts that you haven't read. If you click that, it will take you to the first unread post in that thread.

4) First post in topic. This will take you to the topic start.

5) Last post in topic. This takes you to the very end.

As for dates, there's two dates now instead of one. The name and date below the topic title is the person who started the topic and they date and time that they did so. The name and date at the far right of the row is the last person to post and the date and time that they did so.

Let me know if this meets your needs. Although I'll keep this layout since it's the same as what's inside the forum and easiest to follow, I could set up a user-based preference system that allows the layout to be changed for those that don't like the new look.

Hello all,
liking the new front page. As with the old one though, I'd like it better if it worked correctly with Firefox... I gave up on IE a long time ago; the thought of going back now doesn't make me smile much.

The chief issue is the date and time stamping of the posts, a typical example being:

by schwim >>%b %09, %2012 - %0

Not so useful!

That is all. Carry on.

Cheers... Paul

Hi there tinwelp!

The issue you're having luckily has nothing to do with browsers. You only need to visit the board preferences under your profile page and change the date from "custom" to whatever you would like to see.

I went ahead and changed your date/time format to fuzzy date(today, 4:30 pm), but if you visit the link I posted above, you will see there's many date formats that you can choose from if you like another one better.

I could explain they why's and how's of what's happening and why it's not a browser issue, but it's nerdy and boring and it would put some to sleep :)

Long live Firefox(or Aurora and Iceweasel)! :D

I personally, would like to see a topic open to the most recent post, not back 4 months and 5 pages ago. Someone new to the topic can scroll back to the first page but regulars can see the conversation continue without the annoyance of doing so every time........

as I stated earlier, the new system allows for that. Just click the brown icon in front of the topic title to go to first unread post in the thread.

Hi Guys,

The first thing I look at when reading an interesting post is the location of the poster, a lot of our members have not bothered to put in their location  ......to make it compulsory is probably not the right thing to do but a little pressure to do so wouldn't hurt. :cuss:

Come on guys where are you ????? :bounce3:

Hello Steve

Do you remember a period here some three or more years ago when every new member was met with the request, mainly from me, for members to disclose this? even 'roughly' their area is fine such as "WA, Australia".

100% with you on that one.

the other classic is to rattle on endlessly about your bike and we neither know:
the bike
the model
the CC
the altitude
the state of tune
what type of rider and riding
and LOCATION!

you'll never win!

I miss the members list as well.

regards

Taffy

This might be of interest then (click for fullsize):

A ton of work still to go but pretty excited about this one. I'm thinking of tying in a bunch of volountary information. I'd be very interested to here any suggestions on what you'd like to see in a member's info window.

thanks,

Heya Json!
The member map is a great feature!
Good to hear you're working on bringing it back to the new UHE layout.
Sorry I can't help much with your question about what member info should be collected.
(I'm a bit shy concerning this "social" network thingy...)
IMHO some basic info about the member's bike(s) would be helpful.
Anyway I like your idea of volountary information.

Thaks for your time and the great work on the site!
Way to go!

with the old one you had the ability to find people by country or by name - very handy. most posts! :D longest member! all very handy!

I always felt it should have been compulsory to say your locale.

regards

Taffy

That map looks like a kool idea ! I am fascinated by all the different locations of our berg brothers that I see in pictures and videos posted up here, when I grow up I'd like to travel to some of these places. :D

I would like to see the web links brought back. This may be unscientific at best but if someone were considering purchasing a new or used bike, seeing an archive of places to get parts and accessories could be helpful in making a decision. Especially with a niche brand. Besides I just plain ole like having links to all kinds of hard to source Husaberg stuff at my finger tips. When I forget where to purchase that one of a kind, billet, lazer welded, cryo treated part it makes me want to drink fluoridated water and get a flu shot. Do you want that on your conscience Jason?

I don't know if I could live knowing that I drove you to flouride.

Once I finish the last couple of features I'm trying to figure out for the member map(they're pretty cool :) ), I'll get to work on the weblinks. I've saved the database from the previous version of the site so I can write the script around the elements of the database and we'll have a fully populated system.

So....

All I've got to do is write it....

Yeah....

:D

The members map is a very cool addition. Thank you for all of your time and effort. Its the add-on things like this that make it fun to hang out at the site awhile and see whats new. Stuff is good. More stuff is even better. Most of the web links will probably need to be updated with new ones. If you can't find someone to take on the horribly wretched deplorable job of adding some links I could probably handle it. If you have someone in mind or if someone wants the task really bad by all means indoctrinate them. Having already done it for a number of years it is only fair to have those that are most passoniate about the site participate.

Hey Taff, its times like these that I wish I understood Welsch. Pendagast? I can Google with the best of them but am at a loss on this one.

Pretty good Ken! Some lights do shine a bit brighter than others. You would be an excellent cryptanalyst or Welsch to "proper" English translator.................
