The technical adventures of Dr_C

When I meet my old buddies for the annual christmas dinner (incl pub crawl), we allways end up with a massive to-do list, as there is not lack of creativity in the wee hours:
-Goodwood Revival & Festival of Speed (sensible, nice, low effort)
-IoM (as my friend Björn Gunnarsson is attending again)
-MotoGP (again)
-Dirt Quake
-Vacation tour on motorcycles with cobwebs
-Motorcycle fairs (poor excuse for a "guys only" tour)
-Enduro tour in Spain
-Ice racing (due to the season)
-IoM (because we forgot that we had mentioned it already)
-Arranging Dirt Quake in Sweden (getting bolder)
-Building a café racer (because I forgot I'm doing it already)

Point being: You guys are probably just full of ****, but rest assured: You are most welcome, any day! :):):)

Enduro in Croatia?
We have warm weather and a warm sea too. And we’re a poor country so by northern standards everything is cheap...

My café racer project includes a BSA gearbox from 1960-1963. I wanted to freshen it up with new bearings and bushes. After some searching and corresponding, the company "British Only" from Austria, sent me two original exploded views of the gearbox. -Please note what articles you need! So I did and within a couple of days I had every bit I needed! For a bike that stopped being produced 55 years ago! Amazing! I hope everything fits! [emoji4]

Now the crank case goes to machining. We will make a "seat" for the cb housing in the crank case. That will secure the position of the cb housing, reducing the amount of machining after the welding. I will have to make a new front engine mount as well, so CrMo tubes and a sheet has been purchased.

Is that an engine breather in the starter motor housing? Is it extra or instead off the head?
Very perceptive and correct! It is extra. With higher combustion chamber pressure, the "blow-by" gets higher and will carry oil if the speed of the air is high. So I doubled the ventilation area, reduced the speed to 50% and Voila! No oil coming out of the engine!

Nice work Doc, would an extra breather out through the clutch cover work or is that too low? I like the idea of extra breathing but I'm very fond of my electric start!

Wouldn't it be possible to use the oil filler hole as an extra ventilation?
Just make sure to avoid direct oil spray on the ventilation outlet from inside the Engine!
