i can't think where i'm going to find this? i need some supple, thin walled, flexible pipe that has an ID of 10mm or abouts and about 2M of it.

it's for my 'sub tank' tests and it'll all have to squeeze behind the headlamp and around things.

i'm thinking of the kind of pipe we had for bunsen burners at school or for when i had colonic irrigation. i never saw that pipe but it was champion! and felt great! (oh dear what have i said!).

tee-hee!

I have a good hardware store in town that has all sizes of clear tubing in sizes from 1/8"id to 1" id. If you can convert for me (the dum american) metric to fraction I would be happy to get you some. This is the kind of tubing that is used for fish tanks and water connectors as well as colonic cleaning.

Does this tubing have to resist any type of chemicals or is it just for the air volume?
PS
I know 2m is about 6 ft right?

Bob,

I'm not tryin to be a dingus, but this is a great program I have seen used EVERYWHERE:

Convert.exe

Trust me on that one, you will use it often!!!

Taffy, please explain "sub tank" a little bit more.

Easy conversion 25.4mm/1 inch

...round to 25 and its pretty easy to remember

Taffy try your local bottled gas dealer i think thats the pipe your after.

cheers troops!

dollar - sounds excellent.

even 1/2" OD is fine and i have good ideas from here. i wouldn't bother getting it from the states coz it has to be here in the UK somewhere and i just haven't been thinking along the right lines till now.

sub tanks? go to 'the doc' and then to 'handling and suspension' then to front forks and you'll see pictures there. want to know more? go to ktmtalk.com and to their suspension area. there's always something about it going on there.

what the doc won't explain is what the pipe is for. well, i have bought some flow valves and have tapped and fitted them to the top of each fork leg cap. i have them sealed off and await the opportunity to try out this system with a pipe connected at each end to the flow valves.

i'm doing it on the cheap. some pay up to $300 in the states whereas some have paid only $30 and use a simple hosepipe as a chamber.

please read a little and see the photos before asking.

UHE waiting for me to do the development? now there IS a first! 8O

anyway, we'll see.

Aaahhh, sub tanks.

For tubing, have you thought about stainless braided brake-line? Also, you are talking about 1/2" OD.

Powercell has the right link, mcmaster carr, the source for everything like this. You will need something that is able to take the pressure, not sure if the tubing you were talking about would work. Crap, what kind of pressure are seen??

Mcmaster has it, page 210 (with ends), to give you an idea of what I was talking about.

EDITED

PS- Fuel injector hose will take higher pressures, that might be what the "guys on the cheap" are using.

i doubt that there is 10-20 lbs pressure. even if it's more i would think any hose can cope without distorting.

i did mean 1/2" ID as this acts as the chamber itself. in many ways - the bigger the better. i want it thoiugh to be flexible, in the event of a fall with 150PSI tubing the pressure from the pipe will transfer through my fuse/ignition lock/headlamp/wiring etc and i don't wnat that.

the ideas have been excellent and you can follow the fork thread i've been doing for further results.

ta!
