Hey guy's I sold the 426 and hopefully soon i'll be buying another bike. The bikes i'm looking at are:

Husaberg----FE650E
Honda-------XR650
KTM---------525 or 625
Husky------510

I want a bike that has a balls to the wall feel when pined. Something that can handle my 400 pounds (with gear). And is more a racer like my old YZ but can be enduroed. I also want to be able to upgrade it and have it be reliable. So what would you guy's recomend?

Justin where have you been?

Did you get the YZ fixed or did you sell it as is?

Get the Berg of course! The FE 550 looks very sweet.

hey justin

you have some very nice bikes in there the husky and the berg would be my flavour but then you put the XR 650 in there im assuming you havnt ridden one same horsepower but have to be one hell of a man to throw that around a tight trail and would have to mod the suspensiion if you wanted to take it on a motox track well my 2c any way

cheeers doug

get the berg tho you know you want it we can stop calling you our ******* son then :p

So your saying the other bikes are better then the XR and the major downfall to the XR is weight and supension? Also that the other bikes are all pretty equal. I mainly ride single track sttep muddy wet and nasty trails and then I ride wide open deseret.

yere pretty much dont get me wrong the XR is a great bike just totally differant to the other bikes you are looking at i would just go test ride them and see what you think i have ridden the husky 510 very nice bike suspension is set up to go hard straight out of the box nice and light but has a fairly small tank and not sure if you can get an under seat one for it but then again its not a husaberg i have ridden the 450 and the 650 and found them to be a bit softer in the suspension than the husky but i would say the berg 550 has more go then the 510 cause the 450 felt about the same anyhoo im rambling again just go and test ride them see what you think

cheersw doug

they expect you to buy a 15000 dollar motorbike with out test riding it ..?
thats insane ok well just get the husaberg fe 550 than :?
garantee will put a smile on ya dial

cheers doug

Justin,I think whatever you decide to get should be 500cc or larger.I wouldn`t just look at 650s.The 550s are strong too.Husky used to make a 610 as Husaberg made a 600 {witch became the 650}.It`s a shame they will not let you try one out.You will find what you want just take your time.Take care.

Hi,

definetly, go for the Husaberg...no doubt!!!.......with your riding areas the Berg fits in just fine.........even consider the FE650!!!!...it´s a pleasant bike to ride, even with this big displacement!!!!

Read the posts in the mechanical forum.

How many times did you need to correct the valve clearance?
How often did you divide the engine?
Etc?

Test Ride

Jason,

What part of th US are you in? I'm wondering if there is a dealer somewhere within driving distance that could arrange to let you try one out? I know that Chicken Coop Husaberg in Ohio lets people try demo bikes. If it is just the local dealer that has the liability issue, it might be worth a 4 to 40 hour drive to spend a few minutes twisting a Berg throttle. You will quickly forget about your other options. :p

If you PM Jedhi, he might be abled to point you someone.

In terms of the model, I agree with the previous post on the 550. I have been lucky enough to put several hours on the 2004 and 2005, 450s, 550s and 650s. The 550 is an incredible machine that would be a good match to your size and offer alot of flexibility in terms of what you can do with it in different conditions. I can also say that the 650 might put a mile wide grin on your face in the open desert and the type of single track that you say you ride. As far as the tight stuff I personally would prefer the smaller motor but I can say with certainity that the 650 handles much better and is more manageable than you would think.

Forget the other machines and get that Berg you want so bad!! You only live once.

RE: jason to justin

I think the above post was meant to be directed toward Justin.

thanks,

Justin,
I'd have to pick the Fe550, although at 400 Lbs you may want to add the ATK Intimidator 700 to your list.

The local dealer has sold a couple apparently, but he really tries to talk people out of them and they were bought my more cruisey-type guys who pretty much idle around. Even enduro champ Brad Williscroft, known for his love of big HP, didn't want one over the 550...

The FE650 would be a bit big for me but then again that`s me.There is a shop about 2-3 hour drive from me one of the salesman owns a 650 and by what he says he likes it.He has a tag on it and is street legal.I think a 650 would be strong a plenty and should be able to handle anything you should want to do.Good luck.

I'm located in So.Cal. I think Malcome Smith motorsports might let you test ride. I'll have to give them a call. Thanx for your input guy's.
