Another fellow brought up an interesting point in another post that got me to wondering what happened to the Hi Lo switch beings KTM doesn't use one.

Hi,
the Hi/Lo switch has absolutely nothing to do with the stator!
It´s only the cdi coil which uses 2 different ignition curves.
But right now, I can´t really believe that the KTM part really works, but
when carbonone says that the KTM stator works on his 2002 FE then it must be true.
That´s what I like to hear, too :D

SloJoe, you have a 96 Berg, there was never a problem to use the KTM stator!

Hi Bergers,

I fitted a new stator to a mates 98 LC4. As part of the process of determinging that it was the stator he needed we swapped bits and pieces from my 98 501. As stated elsewhere, other than the connectors, they were the same. The multimeter confirmed it. As it happened the KTM ones were substantailly more expensive than the Berg ones here in Oz at the time, about 2 years ago.

I read this post twice and I am still unsure as to whether I have the option of using a different stator that works better --or-- only going back with the fragile SEM. I have a 98 FE501e with no lights on it. What would be best?

Husabergs up to and including 98 have the stator in the case where 99 and up have the stator in the flywheel cover. All this fancy talk of Hi/lo switches and KTM stators 580.31.002.050 are for the 99 up bikes.

This is true, but visually it is the same stator; same ID, same OD, same screw hole pattern just a different rubber grommet to either go through the case or the flywheel cover.

KTM stators 580.31.002.050 are for the 99 up bikes.

This is not true I put this stator in my 96 501 husaberg and it work fine.
Hope this helps.

Can one expect less failures with this KTM stator? Or is the longevity the same yet just a less expensive alternative?

PLEASE HELP
is there some one out there that is using one of the husaberg stators part number 250 125 01 and can they use a ohm meter i need the readings for this stator red to black green to black if possible the peak voltage readings as well any help would be appreciated

Hi Dan,

I had to replace my coil a while back on my 01fe501e, and guess what, they don't come with the grey wire anymore, that's the wire for the high low switch. So, I'm probably going to remove the large start/high/low switch and go to the small push button start switch like my 04 has.

Hi can some one help me
i need the ohm meter readings for the Husaberg stator 250 125 01- red to black and green to black i have just received a price and availability for said item and it comes back stator 89-98 no electric start mentioned so i want to know if the ohms reading match the later models with the electric start
any help would be appreciated

Thanks for the correction, was wrong for me to assume it wouldn't fit the earlier bikes. Good to know. Dale...do you think the extra wire is now missing from the CDI coil to simplify production with the resulting elimination of the Low setting, or did you get an earlier coil?

could someone please put together an article in microsft word about all these electrical details?

the voltage drops, ampage, cranking speed, where you check it. a paragraph would do. i would like it for the owners doc and i think most of the regulars have a handle on what's been going into there?

this is the one chapter we don't have in the owners doc and you get no clues to my weaknesses in the UHE!!!!

my last post ASKING for your support got NO help whatsoever!!!!!! all i want is a paragraph!!!!!!!!!! please.

regards

Taff-

I have been working on putting something together for the owners document that hopefully will be a "one stop electrical guide". I have been searching the archives and pulling relevant data to incorporate but it has been a tough task as many people get info and never post results or just share little bits and pieces that are hard to jig-saw back together. I am no electrical goo-roo so I will most likely have gaps of info and misinformation. When I get ready to post it up, hopefully the masses will contribute and set things straight. I will get you a copy in the very near future and we will try and incorporate it into your owners doc.

Regards,

sandskipper

thanks for that fella. on thursday evening i spent about 5-hours on it and i've put a lot together. unlike other owners doc chapters i decided to put some straight test numbers but have added a lot of hyperlinks because the subject fries the brain.

it's the only subject i'm weak on.

please have a look at a PM i've sent you and thanks for helping out.

regards

Taffy

How are the KTM stators working for those of you who use them? My '03 FE400 only has ~50hrs on it but I want to be ready when and if my stator heads south. I'm going on a 7 day trail ride and after reading the above posts am thinking about buying a spare and taking it with me.

RE: Re: Replace the SEM no more!

Hi everyone, i've read lots of topics but i'm now confused. My stator died and i'm looking for what to buy? Does ktm stator fits to 2003 FE 650 model?

RE: Re: Replace the SEM no more!

Not to badmouth anyone in any way, shape or form, but it was stated in TWICE on page 2 of this thread by DSDucati and JoeUSA that the KTM stator would work for 99 to 03 Husaberg models, and I recently bought a stator whose resistance values do not match up to "stock" stator for these years. While I"m still in the process of diagnosing, I just wanted to list this information so that you guys who have the 99 to 03 Berg's are under the "buyer beware" clause....
