So far all correct.Good guess Taffy on # 10.
In march of 1974 I and three of my friends had just driven non-stop the 36 hours it takes to get from Halifax N.S. to Daytona speedway. On our arrival we were keen to see the track and walked through a unattended gate and sat down in the bleachers to take in a view of the speedway. We where a week early and the plan was to find a motel on the strip and see the sights before speed week got under way.Just minutes after we sat down we saw some activity on pit row and a lone motorcycle an rider exited the pit area. The rider did a few laps then returned to the pits.I recognized the machine as one of the new Yamaha Tz700 fours. It sounded spectactular on its four open expansion chambers. In a short period of time the rider exited the pits and proceeded to lap the speedway using the bowl only(no infield).I wanted to find out what was going on but there was no one in the speedway that I could see except the crew in pit row and a worker sweeping the bleachers, whose only comment was that he had heard that some guy was trying to set a record. My friends and I had never seen anything go so fast and we sat there and watched this guy lap daytona lap after lap wide open.I remember the riders leathers were all black and the bike was all white. We never heard a word more of this till months later when I read in Cycle World of Ago's world One hour record. Of course the excercise was to prepare the machine and Ago for the 200,and history shows he was the class of the field and won the 200 comfortably.

And no, the legend tells that McQueen did the jump but a stuntman did it and I believed it. Apparently McQueen wanted to do the jump real bad but production said he was an actor, not a stuntman.
