Yeah, finding a complete, even damaged 650, is a very good start.
If the head is repairable, thats a bonus, otherwise the 450 head swaps right over.
I doubt the cases would be hurt from a dropped valve.
You can either have the liner re-coated, if its oval, apparently you can correct this in a vise(carefully), or replace. I believe you can still buy them new from a Husqvarna dealer.
Pistons are readily available, Wossner is the way to go, it seems the ProX pistons aren't too strong, but they are very cheap, also mentioned earlier in this post. Or go big bore. Theay have some group buys on here every once in a while. Special order from Wiseco is Min 12 pistons I believe. With big bore you will need to bore the cases to accomodate a larger OD liner, and it will have to be a custom made liner. I recall someone's post saying that the standard liner can be bored up to 102mm I think, and re-coated, but any larger makes the liner too thin and weak, and you need to bore the cases.
I think the liners are too thin to bore out as they are, and I wouldn't bore a standard 100mm liner.
Carillo rod would be the best one to get.
The 650 headers only just clear the underside of the radiator, so you are good to go. The radiator is actually shaped with a liitle dent in the middle section to accomodate the exhaust headers of the 650.
Exhaust headers are different between the 450, 550 and 650, the collector and silencers are the same, but there are different silencers for FE and FC/FX etc.
Also, the exhaust systems are different from 2001 to 2004, to those from 2005 to 2008.
Older model headers cross each other before the collector, keeping the header lenghts closer to similar lenght, while the newer header didn't cross, so the LH header is much shorter than the RH header. Also differnt flange and position where the silencer connects to the header, but you will have no problem as both your bikes seem to be the newer type, and you have the 650 exhaust headers as well.
