ey folks,

I have now all parts for my husaberg in carbon fibre (thanks to www.carbon-performance.com for the support)

Now I´m planning to make a gas tank. Lighter smaller and diveided into 2 parts, to get the engine cooler( like a ram air effect)

I made a prototype and this is also working, tested them last week.
Have a look at the pics...

If anybody has some good ideas to improve....let me know. Maybe more people are interested in that part...

keep on sliding

What material do you use to make the model?

Looks good, your idea is not totally dumb you know.

Show us the finished result.

the model is made of extender resin..or something like that....
that was 2 month hard work

Great looking work thus far!
Anxious to view the completed project.

Kind Regards,
Dale

Good work BAB !

If you cant buy what you want, then build it. I like that attitude.

Heres a thought  :

For your next project, make a tank that holds say about 15 litres for the 2000 on FE / FC bergs so we can go for a reasonable length off road ride or pit less times.

Watch the UHE members and berg dealers beat a path to your door with money in hand to swap for your carbon fibre and initiative.

Especially seeing as how the mainstream tank manufacturers are dragging their feet on this one.

But you have probaly already thought of that, no doubt

Cheers !!

BAB,

I like the design and the work looks like you have put much attention to the details. Good to see that you have thought out what you want and I am also anxious to see the finished product. :thumb:

Regards,

Carve your inner mold out of styrofoam, then laminate over it.
When finished and cured the styrofoam will disolve with gasoline.
I have never actualy done this, but in theory it should work.
(this idea is free and carries no warranty)

It looks absolutely awesome.
I like the idea with dividing the tank into two parts and creating a large extra air inlet.
It also looks really small and neat. Just the way I want it. How much gas will it carry?

Like the other guys said. Keep us posted with the progress of your work.

Gasoline + Styrofoam? You're serious?

Hmmm... how ya' gettin' gas in it when it's done?

I think it's the model and he's going to ship it to them so that they can make a mold and make a carbon fiber tank, in which you can put gas.

the gas tank has 2,5 litres each side, so I have around 5 Litres gas in the tank.. that it enough for 12minutes +2 round race or 20 minutes race.

thanks for all your answers, will inform you all about the result...wishe me luck

Ever pour gas into a styrofoam cup?Ever hear of lost
foam casting? The fabricated tank will have an inlet
hole and a petcock hole correct? There may even be
a water soluble product out there that will work better.

The result of this mix is very dangerous and toxic.

If inflamed, it will burn very intensely, like napalm. And for a good reason.

I believe gasoline was the main ingredient in napalm.
Well I guess you could carve it out of wood and use a
box of termites.

Hello BAB,

your idea is really great.
I also had the idea respectively the wish of a smaller gas tank.
But you´re the guy who translates the idea into action.

Can you tell me where you come from? I have a presumption but I ´m not sure.
Would be great if your tank would be available in a conceivable time period.

greetings
hribman

Dreimal darfste raten!!!!!!!!! :D
HAHAAAA

Finally my five years of studying german pays off.
It means "Guess three times"

BAB - I was thinking about how one would fill your tank up???

Is it possible to make the ram-air effect even bigger? If I see correctly at your pics you have made a second air intake facing backwards?! Take a look at the hoses on an old ZXR750 and you get my idea. Maybe a couple of hoses connected to the front number plate. It will probably look really silly but if it really works it will also look great. Function before design you know...

If you manage to produce tanks at a not-to-high price I will surely promote them here in Sweden.

Regarding the ram air idea. Though, it is good, it really does not have that much of an effect until you get up into speeds in the realm of 80+ MPH. BUT, it is still a good idea to make sure you do not have any restrictions on the intake. SO, I would not go overboard with too much ram air.

Looks AWESOME though!!!!!!

I love the look of raw carbon fibre, please don't paint it.
