ok, so who is actually going to buy a new '09

I'm with you TM.
If I can afford to upgrade and think that my old body can take, I'll be in for sure.
With a 1 year warranty and fantastic dealer support, what is the problem?

These comments blow me away. Sometimes I wonder why folks buy a Husaberg. Personally, I buy because it makes riding fun as possible, and the Hbg gives me an advantage over the next guy, and as I age that becomes even more important. The perceived worries are non-sense. Maybe it is my racer mentality. Gas cap, I don't care, I have two rolls of duct tape in the truck, I can tape it on. Battery/restart, I think I can hook it up to the battery tender between rides. Durability of design, I suspect that most all the internals come off the shelf from existing models. The only upside to all of your worries is that I shouldn't have to pay $500 over MSRP to get one. My only concern is that I am not that keen on PDS performance, but the 2008 KTMs that I have ridden seem to work OK and I really like the no linkage bearings, so hey, I'm in! Personally, I thought this thread would end up as 10 pages of "I'm in".

Couldn't have said it any better myself. How many old threads can you find where posters were complaining about Husabergs not being updated? A bunch. No worries about all the fence sitters here. Just like many of the converts drawn in by the current iteration of the Husaberg now available (myself included), I think more will follow once the new bike is actually available.

My bike is still working as good as the day I bought it (touch wood) maybe even better.
I really don't need to trade it in on anything yet but we will see in a years time.

Best bike I have ever owned. Period!

Kelsow,
I don’t NEED a new one either, but I can say I will get a 09 maybe not right at first, hopefully by January of 09. I’m surprised at a lot of the comments as well.
:) :)

There is nothing stopping me from wanting one though.

I'll be getting a big dualsport this spring to do some adventure riding on so it will have to wait
a while before I can even consider getting this past the warden.

For me, the problem is a warranty claim entails 1000 kms/9 hours of driving to deliver/pickup.

I'd rather buy a 2 season old refined design, than a new one that might force me to take that trip again  .

and maybe again.... :?:

Sorry Kelsow my post came across the wrong way I meant to say that I agree with you that I don’t need a new bike and that my current bike is the best I have ever owned as well. :)

Just so were all on the same page, there will only be a 30day warranty period.

Is that just a US thing or worldwide??

Is it the importers own willingness to absorb warranty costs or KTM/Husaberg who define countries warranty conditions?

Do you really - I mean _really_ - have to ask your wife about your next bike/gear ...

:?

You must not have children, Goran. Or if you do, I'm glad I'm not your kid :)

thanks,

What makes you think so?
I`m 41, I do have child (6 years old son) and he`s enjoying great time playing with bazillion lego cubes, ninja turtles figures, bionicles, transformers ... you name it.
With daddys Bergs, too :)
It`s great to be my son 8)

But, I still do not understand why somebody have to ask ... blah blah

Back on topic:
I will buy new 2009 SuperMoto H-berg, no matter old-style or new-style!
Seriously considering 09 FE570 with 17" wheels and Magura front brake assembly, also.

Cheers, Goran

Ausberg

The units leave Austria with a 30 day warranty. The individual distributor initiates the additional 11 months. Barrett Marketing did the same here in North America using an aftermarket company to cover the warranty. I'm not sure how the Aus version is handled, but it is not a std feature from the factory, unless they negotiate that into their buying price. I'm not sure if that is possible, or that they finance it themselves as you indicate. A fine selling feature no matter the method.

I'm going to look into getting one. hopefully i am able to start a berg/ husky dealership by then. just started looking into the dealership idea. if I have no dealership it depends on the price tag, and the distance to the nearest dealer. i'm thinking you may be able to get an 08 for a good price once the 09 comes out. I am definately getting something new as at 46 it may be my last new bike purchase........well other than an agusta f4cc.

I'll look at my funds, wich toys need updating most, and decide. Ofcourse with my oldest heading off to college, I may have to put updated toys on the back burner. If I can find a way, I will by an 09.

I presume by the comments from folks exercising caution that 2008 models sales should be brisk as folks try to get the last of the current design. Actually, that is pretty wise as well. Hbg has had 8 years to work the bugs out, the design is still top notch (Joakim and Bjorne are riding bikes that are not that far removed from OEM, recall I own one), and Joakim is Junior World Champ and top 10 overall at this years ISDE, and they simply work very well (I have ridden most all other brands, except Aprilia, and the only other bike that got my attention was the RM-Z450, and some 250f's). Contrary to what folks might beleive, just because Hbg does not issue a laundary list of changes with each new model year, it is same to assume that they have many small changes that improve the overall product.

Maybe because some of us would have to quit feeding our kid to buy one

I would buy and ride the 2009 in a heartbeat, but newly married and we're saving for a house down payment and I need to pay off my bike not renew a another 4 year loan for a new bike.

seems I will have the legendary 2006 model for years to come. It's a good year.

I would be keen to get an '09, I've put the concept to the wifey, which was not recieved with tremendous enthusiasm, but '09 is still a little way off.

Yeah, well, its tough being young, married, mortgaged, a dad, a future dad, and finding a way to justify a spare $13,000 is a team decision. I'ts been hard justifying (to myself) 5 days off to go to the Aus Force ride, but hey, I'm the guy wo works till midnight every other night cos I cant walk away from my work, and cant stand knowing people are relying on my work if its getting left un attended.
