No More DELO for Wet Clutches

So Dale, do you think DELO is still OK for wet clutch applications?

Interestingly, I checked to jugs for the last two gallons of Rotella and they were both CI-4 plus. No clutch slippage to date.
 
According to Shell, the reformulated Rotella CI-4 plus does not contain moly compounds.
 
I have been using the Delo 400 since the day I purchased my bike (2 years 2 months ago) and have not experienced any problems with clutch slippage at all. I was not aware that the chemical composition was changed until reading this thread but after checking my oil containers have noticed that I have used at least the last two gallons using the newer formula and have noticed nothing different than the last two years.... Bike seems to perform the same and no clutch slippage has been noticed.

Thanks Chas, I went back and read the original post and I see that. (picture Gilda Radner sayiong "never mind" :oops: :oops: )

It does seem to shift better with the delo.

Sulfur/phoshphorus can attack light metals. However, Yellow metals are primarily attacked at high temperatures therefore such has never been a real concern.

Is not Aluminum considered a light non-yellow metal?
Are the small specs of aluminum on the oil filter any
fualt of a chemical breakdown?

I suppose I should have stated "light yellow metals" :)

Regarding Husaberg:
Aluminum "specs" are often the result of shearing.

Common examples:
Kick start idler gear contacting the main case, Aluminum cam sprocket and / or cylinder being shaved by the cam chain.
