BOSS makes some nice rad guards (if that is what you mean by braces)
Exhaut pipe: Akrapovic makes one, it's in the Husaberg catalogue.

Engine modification are not really neccessary. Remender the FC550 will run circles around any 450 power. Depending on the type of riding you do, the suspension wouldbe a place to start the modificatons.
1. Suspension
2. Sprockets: 15T, 45T. This will keep the engine from over revving out of turns.
3. Tires for the correct dirt terrian
4. A strong upper body (lift weights)
5. Carb jetting
Not in this order...

I'm also looking for a skid plate for my 2001 FC550, but can't find any for that spesific model. Any tip..?
2001 up to 2008 should fit. Lots of stuff off the 04-08 bikes fit but most manufacturers don't list it.
I found a used one on fleabay for 40 dollars....

I got this one on my used DR-Z - the previous owner made it himself. 4mm Al 
It's QUITE rugged! Thinner material would be plenty. Looks gnarly though.
I guess it wouldn't be that hard to do one - just get the measurements for the bolts, make up a jjg? wood maybe? mock up the shapes in cardboard? cut the pieces and weld. Hammer to fit.
(Perhaps contrary to common knowledge, aluminium can be welded by almost any method - including stick and torch! MIG just makes it even easier.)
