Hi All,

I was in Eric's yesterday in Pasadena and saw a 2005 FS650 on the stand. Apparnently it's a magazine test bike for I'm guessing SMR, or Super Moto Racer (?)

Looked like they had really flogged the beast, and it was in the shop for some repairs. The bike only had about an hour on it. The new exhaust looked pretty cool, tucked in nicely. No thermostat in cooling system. And it had a really nice little stock catch can that fit in the recess of the swingarm. Massive radial mounted front brake.

I don't know when it will be in the mag, but thought you'all would be interested to know that a test is in the works.

"Really flogged the beast ?" I beg your pardon :)
Brett was just giving it the once-over, in preparation for the SMR photo shoot / track evaluation. That's the bike that Scott Hoffman raced at Copper Mountain. Prior to sending a bike out for a magazine test / photo shoot, it usually gets a first service and overall detail. The bike that you saw had a couple of minor issues (brake fade due to air in the line, and a wobbly chain guide), but it was in Eric's shop just to make sure that everything was up to spec prior to the magazine's final evaluation.

That issue should be out in about six weeks (it's a quarterly magazine). OH, and in the following issue, don't forget to check out the inside back cover, AKA "SMR Girl", which yours truly will be shooting with said motorcycle this weekend in Reno :)

Cheers,

Brett Saunders

Yes, I know it's a difficult job, but as they say, someone has to do it :)

Hmm, at least they should try to find a girl that matches at least some of the beauty in the bike...
