iridium to be or not to...

Tight intakes will cause slow idle down as will too rich a pilot system. One tends to lift the slide by adjusting the idle screw up to let more air in to compensate for the richness. Or said pilot was intentionally richened to compensate for an air leak. All result in slow idle down.

Hi Dsducati,I did a bit of checking to-day and you are correct in respect to the description of the dcpr8e, it is 12 mm not 10 mm.Thanks for setting me straight. It is hard to tell if alex has a case of slow idle.slow to return to idle or a constantly changing idle.Hopefully between us and maybe the help of someone else we can get him fixed up.Top of the season...nsman

hello, its just a slow to return idle.
once its down it stays there pretty good.
also the bike starts very good now(with the iridium) but only in horizontal position or down,up it just dont start :?: :?: :?:
maybe the boey on the carb?

you've probably got a sticking throttle cable. i would look at the routing of it, as it's probably kinked somewhere.

they came with very powerful throttle springs but some may have the wrong one in! just a guess.

mixture wise-if the idle stays up it's because the bike is very lean. a closed throttle means that the fuel is slower to slow down. that means when you decelerate the throttle wacks closed but the fuel doesn't instantly stop.

you therefore get a rich condition and that makes a lot less power than is ideal killing the revs even quicker still. if however the bike is lean, when you close the throttle the dramatic drop in air suits the amount of fuel it's getting and the engine wants to produce revs as a net result.

you could also try looking at the float valve for closing correctly and the two floats being nice and square. also the brass emulsion tube and needle. they're well known to wear quickly on the dell orto and although everyone knows it's well known-very few people do anything about it.

Absolutely correct that a lean mixture causes run on, but a too rich pilot system causes the run on not due to the richness, but because the mechanical idle stop screw for the slide was cranked in by the owner in an attempt to get the engine to idle. This allows lots of fresh air in under the excessively opened slide when the throttle is chopped. Engine runs on for a bit til it loads up, and then slows down. With this condition idle is slobbery rich and easy to recognize vs the clean sound of a lean run on. But......without hearing the bike, its rather a crap shoot. :?: Any way, heading to my folks in Nebraska for X-MAS and I would like to wish all you Husaberg owners a very Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year, and a Berg that starts as easily as it would be to kiss Shania Twain under your mistletoe. :)

hi there

i like that part too...yahm yahm 8)

well tomorrow ill try the bike with the valves checked,i loose the throtle cable down on the carb(it was tight!!!) and i found that the 3 screws that hold the air cable on the carb was LOOSE

so maybe this could be the problem, ill see and then ill tell how it goes

ps:nothing better to try my bike in the christmas evening 8)

thanks all for the precious help, and keep it up :p 8)
