hi there,

i was wondering before i spent 15$ in a new iridium plug,is it worth?

or is just more comercial bs?

pls post your experiences here with the changes or not that you guys notice with this plugs.

i hate my berg in starting issues
why does this bike dont start like the others.... :(

i did everithing to improve,i still didnt try this iridium plugs....

As you will find in my other posts, I too had HUGE starting issues. The first thing I did was try an NGK Iridum plug to see if that helped. It didn't. The up side is I haven't fouled one yet with all the issues I was having geting my bike started. So that was nice. I adjusted my valves and now it's easy starting.

I got a box of 4 from Sparkplugs.com for like $30 shipped (0r less maybe). I don't know if I changed back to an old plug if it would be harder to start, but my bike started on 3 kicks in 40 degree weather the other night.

Hi Alex,
Said spark plug is by no stretch a cure all for hard starting. Such being said it is still a good investment enhancing overall low speed operation and engine starting.

Hope this helps.

Sincerely,
Dale

irridium

I've had one in my bike now for 2 years and it has not changed in appearance and my starting improved at the time. Yes, I'd buy one again. BD

so i guess i ll try to see what happens 8O

wich brand is more suitable ,NGK or Denso?

thanks in advance

Since we are on the topic of plugs :) :p

I bought this plug for my Berg is it ok to use (2002 Fe400) or is it the wrong one.

NGK IX iridium 4218 CR8EIX .028

NGK

Hello Faktor, the manual for your machine specs the NGK DCPR8E.In this case I recall that the D=special body design.C=size of plug diameter ,in this case 10 mm,P=extended tip electrode,R=resister built into plug body,8=heat range(temperature range at which this plug operates)and E=length of plug (threaded portion)in this case .750 inches. From this you can deduct that a CR8EIX (where the IX refers to the iridium classification) is suitable in every important aspect except that it is not an extended tip design and it is not a resister plug. While the resister designation is not critical(mainly effects local radio interference)the extended tip is important. The plug gap is .025" .....hope this info is useful.......nsman

I use a NGK CR8EK in my bike a 96 Husaberg FE501.The plug made a world of difference.I thank Dale for that.Newer bikes take a different type I think but they help.

Wildbill, the ek means that the plug has two electrodes I believe. What improvements did you get from using this plug...longer plug life ,starting,response......nsman

So nsman are you saying that i should not use the above plug?

Can anyone tell me?

Faktor,I am not saying that it is no good, the cr8eix satisfies all the critical requirements for the plug recommended for your machine.Try it and let us know what you think, maybe the fine wire tip design of ix plug( which is a more modern design) will have advantages that outway any advantage that the extended tip may have had....nsman

Oh ok just dont want to do any damage to my piston etc, so it is safe to use? Just guy at berg shop said not to use it but gyu at ktm shop said would be fine?

Faktor, one thing,be very careful if for some reason that you must change the spark plug gap,the centre electrode( because the ix design is of the fine wire type)is easily damaged .Do not put any pressure on the centre electrode, this is important!!!!!...nsman

To tell the truth it seems to do all of them.I know it has improved starting and in general all around performance.I still have the same plug in the bike now so it lasts longer and seems less likely to want to foul. This is sorta hard for me to describe but that is about as good as I can type  I hope I didn`t muddy the water to much  .

Wildbill,I find that interesting,I think i will try a cr8ek in my 99 fe400e...thanks...nsman

Faktor, you should not have to change the gap,it is always a good policy to check the gap of a new plug...thats all...nsman
