I'm busy installing an aux. fuel tank and I'm wondering where you all replaced that electronic gizmo thing that's normally bolted on the back fender... It's the rather big 2003 black thing, the newer one's are smaller.
Looking at the size of the cooling ribs it seems it will produce a lot of heat and needs to be installed in a cool or windy place. The obvious place would be just in front of the side shield but it will stick out and can get damage when falling. Who installed it on top of the battery? Will it get too hot there?

Thanks!

I have an '03 as well. I used som pipe clamps and fastened it to the cross bar that is infront of the shock. I had to file one of the square edges off of the battery box mount so it wouldn't poke a hole in the rectifier/regulator. I think it works well. I don't has access to my bike right now but in a few days I can post a picture if you need it.

Hi Kzoo,
Yes would like to see a picture. Do you mean the horizontal frame tube between the rear shock and the battery box? That's just the place I was thinking of... (Not much other choice btw)
Did you install the rectifier/regulator on it's back or on it's side?
No cooling issues?

Thanks!

That's the one. I mounted the unit on it's back with the wires facing forward. Make sure you file the battery box mount though so it doesn't poke a hole in the underside of the thing. No cooling issues to speak of. Of couse now that I say that...
