Well, glad you did not break anything.

I also stayed 8 hours at the ER but they really used me as a cash cow.

My health insurance hates me.

Oh well.

Did the heath insurance companies give you guys problems since you were injured riding?

In my case it was a bicycle accident.

Good thing I put different clothes on because I know from many others that going in the ER with full dirt riding gear is a sure way to be scolded and put at the bottom of the list.

I hate lying, but in this case I did say "dirt bike" and they all translated it into "mountain bike" accident. I just did not correct them. Is that lying?

Not lying just creative thinking on your part :) Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do to get healthcare!! SAD!! I would think WOW a motorcycle "Dirt BIKE" acccident could be way more serious then a mountain bike ! But from being in healthcare for over 11years from the "other side" (Insurance claims) I know exactly how you felt!! Hope you are feeling better!!! and you heal well and fast :)

Well, LeFrog... You gotta do what you gotta do!

I find it funny, in a sad way, that you could have the same injury from Mountain Bike riding or Motorcycle Riding and in the eyes of the Insurance provider and hospital one is O.K. and the other makes you foolish in their eyes....

Good to see you're getting better...

I just have to deal with a frigging hematoma. Darn thing has been hurting more than the fracture itself. I started PT on Friday they are giving me electric therapy and ultrasounds as well. Phew I am glad modern medicine is not totally worthless.

I've got to get myself one of those TENS units.

Or maybe I can figure something out with the Yuasa YTZ-7S, or use the Optimate III to treat it myself. It would be the first time this battery is of any use.

LeFrog,
Good move getting cleaned up prior to going to the hospital.. The ER personnel get real truculent if you let them know your injury is "murdercycle" related (their terminology). I found that the best way to get help is to put your head down and begin groaning REAL loud. They don't take pity on you, but they become more motivated to get you out of the waiting room.

As to the Tens Unit: I have not used one, but understand that it is effective for pain relief.
I have used the Bionicare electrotherapy unit to promote healing in my knees and can report that it does seem to work.
Coupled with viscosupplementation therapy the Bionicare has allowed me to get back on my bike. Admittedly I still can't stand on the pegs too much and I require Tall Seat Foam, but at least I have not had to sell my berg.

If any of you suffer from extremely bad knees contact me for info on viscosupplementation therapy. My case was extreme enough to require knee replacements, but the therapy has made the surgery unnecessary -- at least for now. I also got the Sodium Hyaluronate shots in my bad shoulder, but it was not effective there.

I wish all of you a quick recovery. Try to make it to Bobzilla's next ride and we'll form a special Gimp Group at the rear of the pack.

And Bob will be Sir Gimp-a-lot, or Gimpzilla, our fearless leader, since he has the most broken bones!
