I would start at $4000.00 . Would rather move the dead wood than wait for it to become a collectors item if it were me .

Thanks for the support. My 03 FE400E is still kicking *** big time! And I'm digging the 400cc displacement. I've spent a lot of time, money and effort on getting my suspension right for me. I'll be riding the 03 for the time being. But if I was to make a deal for a 04 450 I'd start around $4500 US. And walk out the door at $5100 US. By the way my dealer only has one 06 450 on the show room floor.

PS: Maybe by the time I'm ready for a new bike. Husaberg will have brought back the FE400, Like KTM did with there 400EXC I can only hope?
I'm pretty sure KTM stopped the 400 exc in 02?? 450 is just the size we the people are demanding. Its only 50cc's larger and doesnt rev quite so hard.

Maybe you can't get the 400 there in Oz, I have no idea. However, it is alive and well here, for 2007 branded as a 400xc/w. The 400 has developed a near cult following due to being supposedly the best handling and easiest to ride of all the RFS in the KTM line.

400

Ohh ok, we can only get the 450exc RFS here. My brother had the 400 and it was nice to ride but he has just bought an 06 450?? Will have to see what he thinks and I'll get a ride too and compare it to my 06 450 Berg.

RE: 400

our 400 was heavily underpowered compared to the katoom 400. again - it's in the cam, change that and it would lug at least one gear taller no problem!

RE: 400

ktm dropped the 400 as the organising bodies upped the capacity limit to 450 in enduro and mx in an effort to wipe out the 2st, as they found that the 250 2st were still able to beat the 400 4 st quite easily. the extra 50cc made the difference.

it was actually re-introduced due to customer demand.

and there also seems to be a resurgence in 2st ownership for various reasons.
