why?

are you refering to the suggestion that its a hoax?

thats ok apart from the fact that if it is an aprils fool then its pretty crap as the rumour was around for several months prior to april the first.

until we see the husaberg homepage with the 2011 models dont think anyone can filter the bull from the truth, thing is though is that its really good advertising isnt it, get everyone talking and salivating about a product that might not even exist.

Why ????????????? Because it is part of the conversation in this thread. I have no opinion as to whether it is a Hoax or not. I'm giving the general public something more to read that is completely un-related to the hoax accusation. I haven't formed an opinion and I won't until Husaberg makes the announcement that they have a 2 stroke in the works. With the unstable economy around the world KTM -Husaberg could have many things behind closed doors and may never release them for various reasons. They also have the right to change thier minds at any moment.
There will always be something I will never understand about manufacturing companies that have seperate models that target the same consumer . It seems very inefficient to have two seperate manufacturing facilities with thier own engineers and assemblers to be in direct competion for sales. I would think that one hurts the other especially in in economic depressions. JMHO

Was only asking why as the thread you linked to didnt bring anything new to the party apart from suggesting the possible hoax.

i'd already read that thread a while ago so maybe thats another reason i had to ask.

I'd say this is real close to what we'll see in the US.

Rumor: Husaberg will release two odd displacement 2-strokes, 230 and 370cc, with the motors in a configuration similar to the HB 4-strokes, possibly with DFI, but this might be in 2012, not 2011. If it all works well, expect to see KTM adopt it one year later. KTM already produces some small bore 2-strokes in a relatively unconventional configuration.

In an australian magazine (amcn) they interviewed KTM ceo and he said they would like to bring husaberg 2strokes out.

What future do you see for your Husaberg brand?
It's our forefront for innovations like the new horizontal cylinder engine, which was a huge success. We sold almost 4000 Husabergs in 2009, whish was nearly four times more than the year before. We sold twice as many Husabergs as BMW sold 450 Enduro's.

So where do you go from here?
We're thinking seriously of establishing a two stroke line so that the package is a nice one for a dealer, and we are thinking of adding a smaller model alongside the 390. We're always trying out new innovations on Husaberg models, and if they work they eventually come to KTM

And the plot thickens...!

Pulled from KTMTalk:
=============================
Confirmed on a Swedish webiste close to Husaberg R&D.

370 and 230 DI Smokers.
Motors have the 70degree layout.
No expansion chamber exhausts, but just simple staight pipes due to the complete combustion with the Orbital DI system.

Also major updates to the strokers as well. No details on this though.

Any link to the Swedish website?

The DI 2 stroke might meet green sticker standards in California......I hope this stuff isn't made up because this would make me spend big money on a new dirt bike.

Sorry... It's spanish.

I edit the post, Husaberg will be the first 2 stroke ENDURO motorbike with injection not the first 2 stroke motorbike with injection. Sorry again.

No worries, eh. Muchas gracias! E-Ticket

I have room in my garage for a 370 smoker right now.

Would be nice to see these 2 strokes actually appear on dealers floors.
