ive been out on my berg recently a couple of times and it's been getting hot so i took out the thermostat and changed the pipe to the fx one with the blank for the right hand radiator, ive just put an akropovic rear silencer my friend gave me, and decided to let it idle for 15 mins to calibrate itself and it started steaming after 5 mins so i took the cap of the rad and the water just kept coming, then paranoir set in,... and it sounds a little noisey at the top end am i worryiong over nothing it runs great has done around 100 hours i had the valve clearences checked 77 and they hadnt moved at all ive been over zealous with oil changes, i'm good at my job but i'm no mechanic someone please reasure me my baby's not dying

so you took the rad cap of a boiling rad?

rather lucky that your able to type the post and not have burnt hands, yes the water will pour out like mad nowt wrong there.

did you think to set up any sort of fan to blow cold air through the bike, most people i know, including me, do that when doing the burn adjust.

unless there was anything else wrong with it before just fill the rad back up and take it for a spin.

No is wasn't actually boiling at that point, just steaming from the outside of the rads, thaks for your reply i now realise, my assumptions were a little premature, better to be safe than sorry thanks mate :D

i get a bit paranoid i think that i hear nasty noises as well.

one i have found is that if the bike has been sitting for a week or so the cam chain tensioner makes hell of a noise for the first 10-20 seconds then calms down.

I can only put this down to it taking that time for the oil pressure to build up on the tensioner to the correct level.

KTM/Husaberg says this is normal, but I replaced mine with a Dirt Tricks tensioner. For one thing mine was making the noise even after being warmed up and well above idle. Now, no more noise. Maybe the noise was normal, but it sure bugged me and I feel better now.

Did anyone experience the mechanical version yet ?

The same (KTM) dealer also supplies the cooling system modification kit where the thermostat is being removed, so the thermostat can't cause any problems. Don't know exactly whether the same kit fits a Husa.
Problem might be the fact that I miss the plug on the radiator where a thermo-switch for the optional cooling-fan can be mounted :?
