Been riding KTM's (still am) and wanted to try a Husaberg as a dual sported trail hopper.
Purchased a '11' 390 Saturday and installed a fan kit yesterday.

Then... read about the white contaminate some had in their tanks and figured now is the best time to pull and flush it (before getting mud all over)

I figured the EFI would add a little more in the removal process but the tank would not come up past the fan without loosening the rad w/fan and darn near completely removing it.
Add this to removing the (6) subframe bolts, (1) tank bolt and that's allot to just remove the tank.

Do others here have trouble getting the tank past the fan?

Thank you !

I find it much less hassle to leave the rad & fan alone and just remove the rear subframe mounting bolts (3) and lower the frame back out of the way just enough to get the tank off. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy! :D

Unfortunately there is no easy way. I removed the rad bolts on the right side and loosed the hose clamp on the top of the rad and swung the rad out of the way. Its a pain but that's the joy of owning a Husaberg! Hopefully you don't have to remove the tank to often.

I'll give this method a try next time.

Thank you !

As stated, there are two methods. Either loosen the right side radiator (I don't loosen the hose the clamp), or drop the rear end. I have done both, and they seem pretty similar in difficulty to me. The method I choose may depend on what else I need to work on. For example, if I want to check the valves, I will pull the radiators. If I am working on the rear end electricals, I will drop the back end. Try both methods and choose your favorite.

At first I thought it was hard to get the tank back on with the radiator loose, but now that I have done it a few times I have learned that a little bit of force pushes the fan out of the way and the tank will drop in.

I believe it was E-Ticket that suggested some silicone spray to help get the air boot to slip back on. That really helps.

It gets easier with practice. Not easy, but easier.

Loosen the radiator with the fan, then you can squeeze the tank out. I have never loosened the back frame for this. Its a quick procedure but you need to use some force/love.
