I thought I read on the HMS Motorsports site a while back that he rents Husabergs, and also had a tour business. If he still rents, isn't he sort of close to Moab?

OR: A third alternative airport would be Las Vegas.... I'll have room for two extra riders.

I haven't checked the airfares lately, but there's often discounted fares round trip to 'Vegas. .....

Perhaps someone could start a list of who is going and where they'll stay similar to the one that DRN makes for the Moon Rocks Valentine's Day ride.
Dez

Another excellant suggestion.

Good point on the airfares.

So, it's time to start the list. Please post in this thread your intentions of coming to 'The Force Ride'

To get the best rates at a motel, I'll need an approximate number of people attending and the number of rooms needed.

Who else is coming?

and even the cost of hiring a bike!

Taffy, you can use my bike if you could get it out there from West TN. You could fly into Nashville or Memphis and rent a truck and drive out the rest of the way with my bike. ....
Jay

Great offer!!

Taffy, you could rent a Fun Mover. That is a Class 'C' motorhome with a garage in the rear with a built in loading ramp door. A motel on wheels with an indoor parking garage. They cost about $1500 week to rent.

Or if someone else from the midwest or nrtheast is driving to Moab, then they can pick up the bike.

I don't really see me being able to go, though I would love to. I have run into a stretch of bad luck lately. My truck just kindof grenaded on me. Some wires, cables, and other such hanging gizmos got tangled up in my front driveshaft and ripped out unknown amounts of important stuff. So it is time to buy a new truck, that one is getting old anyway. So much for my bike fund. And my biggest farming tractor needs a new flywheel that costs between 1200 and 2000. Along with a clutch and power shift seals, which were the reasons for it going into the shop to begin with. So next time anybody wants to complain about bike part costs, just remember a $1200 to $2000 dollar flywheel and a $370 clutch and $300 worth of seals and then on top of that about $2000 in labor. Ouch!

But anyway, enough of me crying. I thought if Taffy was willing to come to the U.S. for a Husaberg ride, then I would let him use my bike. You guys out west need to show those Brits how to ride anyway!!!

Hello all,
Great idea Splat!

Unfortunately with exception of motorcycles designed to only turn left my Husaberg stable is empty. However, I do own three new XR 100 trainers, albeit they are currently stock and therefore not particularly well suited for the rigors of desert riding :D.

What would truly make for a great outing is if our beloved Jason (The man responsible for this site) were to attend. Seems only fitting if you ask me. Perhaps Husaberg USA would be interested in sponsoring Jason? If so I would certainly break out with an XR 100  .

Best Regards,
Dale

Hi Splat,

Thanks for doing all the ground work for the "Force" Ride. I am assuming that there would also be RV parks in the area as I have travel trailer that I could bring for my "hotel".

I'll see if I can get some of my other friends, non berg owners but great riders none the less to come along as well if that's okay. I should have my 01 501 back together by then so maybe one of my non berg friends will be riding it :D.

So the cost would just be for getting there and accomodations? We wouldn't have to get a permit to keep the authorities happy?? My feeling on that is that we wouldn't as the "organized ride" is not for profit. Maybe a call to one of the local tour guides would be in order just to make sure that we don't have a problem with the FUZZ.

I am very interested in going, so barring any unforseen obstacles I will be there. I have always heard that MOAB was the place to ride. It will be great to find a place to ride outside of So Cal, especially since I like to vacation north of Bryce for fishing and hunting.

Please keep us posted.

Thanks,

There are several campgrounds in Moab. Typical overnight rate is about $20 per space. Permits are not required. The local police are more concerned with real crime issues. They do not bother with the offroad vehicles. Even when an OHV travels on the streets, the local police just basically ignore the offense. Although drag racing might get their attention.

So far we have:

Splat & family = 4

DaleEO & friends

Tuts

DezDuster

berger (?)

BD & son

nsman (all the way from Nova Scotia!)

ajt (?)

unkle moose

Taffy (gets the prize for the longest trip!)

We rode the Gemini Bridge and Bulldog Canyon trails. Awesome scenery. Bring alot of film. With digital shots, you will want high resolution for those views. Those trails are best ridden towards late afternoon. The lighting creates awesome photo opportunities.

His hotel prices are exxagerated. We paid $56 / night (2 queen beds) on a holiday weekend. Regular rates were $39 / night. Cabins are $35 / night (Sleep 4) and you park your bike right in front of your cabin.

I'll post the hotel and cabin list by midweek.

An XR 100 just might be a better choice when forced to carry your bike up some of the stair steps. They have some trails better suited for trials riding that trail riding. I'll watch as Dale leads the charge up those trails. 8O

Splat,
I posted the URL for the pics. The scenery IS awesome and unique.. A real treat for riders of all shapes and sizes.
I'm Looking forward to the lodging list..
I'll definately go during whichever week is settled upon. Count me in!!
I want to meet some of the long time members and Celebs. Come on guys and sign up!

Dez

P.S. I'll drag Tuts along so he can philosophize by the camp fire. Besides, he's an excellent technical rider and I need to follow his lines.

March 3,4,5,6 Thurs through Sunday

Come early, stay late, doesn't matter.
Some people may only come for Fri. and Sat. that's ok, too.

I will try and make it also, mostly depends on when my club is putting on our race next year. Would know more after the first of the year. I would also be camping in my toy hauler which could sleep a couple extra people. Will update later.

looking into my costs lads and where the bloody hell this all is on the map! the cost for me will be £322 or $600 which is good value. that's into pheonix via dallas fort worth. i've just changed mobiles for the first time and they've already told me that i get to travel to the USA for free but i haven't seen the detail yet!!!!!

i reckon if there are a few lads around it wouldn't hurt to have a lodge instead of individual hotel rooms. a if i understand a lodge correctly, you come and go as you please and besides smelly feet you have a bit of a laugh together!

any europeans or brits want to go and make a week of it, taking in the grand canyon?

really would like to ride a husaberg and if anyone wants to take a rental fee and a deposit that would be fine with me. some of you lads have 3-6 bergs.

carb, cam tuning and other such work accepted in leau.

thanks for the offers! would put this first over my annual skiing holiday with the lads!

talk soon.

Taffy

Sorry folks,
March = Previous Daytona commitment.
Best wishes for a great time.
Sincerely,
Dale

Since Taffy is flying over 3000 miles to attend, I'll buy him dinner Friday night. Just hope he doesn't have jet lag all week

March :( how about May? still not toooo hot. The reason is that my wife wont be to happy when I take off for a week right after the fourth   bouncing baby boy is born on or about April 29th.... see i know this because last week i changed her ultrasound appointment so i could go riding for the day... (with her reluctant permission of course) but man am i paying the piper now  I really want to go. I would be there in a heart beat.

I hope to attend. As long as my truck does not break before then, or anything else bad happen, I plan on going. I have never ridden outside of California, so Moab sounds fantastic.

Brendon, maybe you can carpool with BD.

He mentioned carpooling in his post. He is driving down from the Portland area.
