i hear a buzzing about a little 'contest' for how has the cleanest bike.

Any bikes that are 'too' clean are fair game targets for splashing mud puddles. I think the real contest should be to see who can cover who with the most mud. Then we can have the 'beauty contest' after the ride. 8O

Not gonna make it.

Hey guys, I hope more than a few of you are self-appointed photographers for "the ride", 'cause I'm gonna only get to see the pics. The kid now has both bikes down for maintenance and opted out in order to get them ready for the GP season. That leaves just me and I won't make the drive by myself, so TAKE LOTS OF PICS! Seems I spend more time working on these things than riding them. Haven't even had time to touch the Berg. Ride safe, have fun, and I'll pray for y'all. We just lost two local kids that did a head-on on dirt bikes; kinda sends ya for a loop. I'm looking forward to lot's of stories for weeks to follow. Somebody give Taffy an apron. Best regards, BD

Another pie for the guys

I can't believe how many reports that I have read about dirt bike
and m/x deaths this past year.

Out here, we give Marie Callendar aprons to the guys that bail out or don't show for the rides. The local term is 'pieing out' or 'to pie out'.
What size apron do you wear, BD?

Good luck with your son's races?

Long list of riding places

I copied this from KtmTalk. I know a few guys have already seen this, but it is good information for all first time Moab riders. Make a note, some of these trails have dangerous drop-offs and a wrong turn or missed turn will put you 'over the edge'; literally.

Here is my list of "must do's"

Slick Rock/Hells Revenge/Porcupine Rim
Poison Spider/Golden Spike/Golden Crack
Kane Creek (if you like technical connect it to Pritchett Cyn!)

If you have time Monitor and Merrimac and Klondike Bluffs (these are great starter trails)

I have been hearing good things about the Sovereign trail, which is a relatively new 15-mile single track (until the quads find it) north of town. I have not ridden it but do a “Googleâ€Â

Sadly, I can't get any other fathers to take my place with the scouts at the "klondike" that weekend. Seems that none of them want to camp in 15 feet of snow... go figure. (if i had been thinking when they asked me to be the leader i would have let them know then that i had previous engagement and that they would have to find someone else for that trip) So being the high adventure leader and all around responsible person that I am, I find it very difficult to bail on the boys. So I won't be going to the Force Ride. I have however resereved the month of march next year for this ride (if it happens again!). Possibly the california guys would be willing to get together sometime this year?

sorry guys, I was really looking forward to it. especially since it would have been the last serious riding trip for quite some time to come, new baby and all....

No Man! We are depending on YOU to bring everything!

Seriously, I'm glad that you are relaxing. I'll have my computer in the RV, so bring your camera to computer USB cord, and we can download the pics each day and json will upload them from the campground to this site. I'll bring blank DVDs and we can burn the pctures to disk each night so everyone gets copies of the good pictures and we can delete the pictures from the cameras after the DVDs are burned.

I, too, have a really poor work attitude right now. I don't feel like doing anything but ride.

splat

what do i give the man who has everything?!?!

my camera has started to go on the blink as well. what crap timing!

i'm going to have to rely on one of these CD dvd thingies!

i'll just copy everything!

can't wait.

Taffy

Does that mean that I need to bring blank CD's a well?

I never said that I would do anything. I said we could ....

json is the resident techno-gadget-computer-expert-webmaster.

My wife does all my digital photo cd/dvd burning stuff.

I'm the dyed-in-the-wool film photographer.
She scans, crops, merges, prints and makes her scrapbooks.

She also does my packing.
I load the bikes, get the gas, and drive.
I'm the minimalist, she's the excessive obsessive compulsive; loads 500 lbs in a 50 lb box,
sound like anyone you know?

7 very slow moving days to go.
I think we'll have to ride tomorrow to take our minds off of waiting for the Force Ride.

You are a very luck man!

As to going riding tomorrow, the only ones riding in our part of the desert will have to have swamp buggies!

Joe

All you need to do is watch a lot of Monty Python movies (like Search for the HOly Grail, etc.), and you and Taffy should be able to communicate without any problems. I watched a lot of Dr. Who shows when I was younger.

I'm well versed in Monty Python and remember many Dr. Who episodes. I should be okay. Hey taffy, bring a couple tapes of some newer British comedy.

I've finally started getting ready. I'm bottling up a batch of amber ale tonight. Should be ready for consumption next Wednesday. The stout won't be ready in time, so it gets to age another 10 days. I'll have some tasty beer waiting for me after the trip.

I'll have to do a valve adjustment this weekend. I might even break down and wash my riding gear!?!

See you guys in a week.

Brian

Your going to both of those BEFORE you come. I better empty my gear bag so you wont complain about the sock smell in the cabin.
Remember if you get to the cabin first it under my name, and I want the top bunk

i don't know if this helps but i'll be bringing three ready-to-go air filters? seems to me they can be washed when you get home-just like the undies....

Taffy

Lost a rider

The Big Red Pig can't make it. My friend has to much work to do.But I will still be there. Might bring my VOR if that does not bother anyone.

I'll be there

So it looks like I will have an extra bed as I reserved two double beds.Just let me know if anyone need one. See ya there!!!!!!
