Flywheel metal on side seperating 2003 FE501

Hi all just got back from a ride and did the usual ignition cleanout and lube. I found a couple of bits of very thin material in the bottom of the cover.
The bits have come off the side of the flywheel and appear to be a compound to hold the magnets on.
If you have a look at where the timing marks are this material is imprinted with the marks as well.

So has anyone seen this and is it somthing i should be worried about.

Hi Justin,

From looking at the picture I would say it is about **** the bed, have a word with Ferret one of your fine country men he might have one going begging.
This is a known problem with the SEM ignition.

thanks sparks I will try and get hold of him, I have just had another look and I think that there has been some dirty water in there on this last ride and somehow it has worn the edge off. The bed looks solid as do the magnets.

Here is the actual flywheel

Hi Justin,

Yep it's on it's way, I'd be looking for a replacement because when they do go they have been known to take out the stator as well, plus you will be many miles from home gauranteed.

Regards

Sparks.
