FE600 Good spark but no power on the system

haha yea sometimes i dont even understand why electrics work how they work either, i would assume your black and red wire completeled a part of a circuit that needed completing to run evenertying else?? i do know more than enough to be dangerous and now you do too LOL.....Just remember those principles for later because reguardless of the problem the electric priciples are the same and those tests can help you time after time if you need!!

Hopefully the sunny weather held out enough for you to get to ride some today too

Still a bit confused as the red white really doesn't appear to do much...but perhaps it's where it sprus into the key switch etc it goes on to feed other colour circuits - ...I don't bloody know - I hate electrics.

actaully now that you say that, i remember having a problem last summer where my lights would come and go and it was a difficult thing to find because when the engine was off they would work and it wasnt till i started to drive down the road that they would get dim or shut off completely so it was difficult to test for, it ended up being a connection at the back of the ignition switch was loose and when it wiggle around it would stop working, sometimes it is the easiest things the can prove the hardest to find.......

Hi Bergini,

See this post has more folks with the same problem.
finally found some time to check my bike....:-(

Here it comes, no resistance if i check blue to Yellow 1 or yellow 2.
1.2 reading if i connect the meter to bot yellow to yellow, what might indicate this?

Damn do i NOT like electrics.....

marcelhusaman,

yea that thread really took off LOL
if it is reading "OL" it would mean that the circuit is bad and not making connection , if it is reading 0.0ohms that means that at is not an "open" circuit and is a good circuit just having a very small amount of resistance.

do you have 0.0 ohms or OL reading?

to me i would think 0.0 ohms would be a shorted circuit or rub through between 2 wires somewhere in the harness or in the stator before the circuit goes through its windings

an OL reading would indicate that there is a brake in a wire somewhere or in the stator windings there is a break in the winding itself.

Hi bergini Man,

Reading is 00 bleu on Yellow.....:(
So i need to remove the flywheel to check the wiring inside. Guess i need to order a puller for the flywheel before i can check. So no driving in the evening anymore till i got that :-(

I have an other question that you might know. That little hole in the waterpump, suddenly it is leaking cooling liquid. Do you know if i can just close that, or is it there for a reason?

Yea you need a puller to check it out for sure, i have a spare stator, ill ohm mines just to verify what you have later if i can rememeber

It is there to let you know that one of your cam seals are leaking,i am trying to remember, there is a little aluminum divider thing but i forget what they actually call it, it is right behind the water pump impeller and is sandwiched between the head and head cover, there are two o-rings around the outside and two lip seals that go onto the camshaft itself, one of those seals are leaking which basically means you would need to replace them to fix it, also at that time you should replace the cam follower bearings/rollers, and cam bearings with rubber sheilded ones, and do them all wether they are bad or not while you are there. the job is a little time consuming but not a terrible one IMO, but i am also a semi skilled individual with a lot of tools. i would not plug this hole off or it might leak into the oil which is worse than onto the ground. if it isnt really bad leak maybe it could be monitered untill it gets worse? it will either go away or get worse!!

ok so now i am confused, on my stator i have: 1 green,1 black, 1 red, 1 blue, 2 yellows

this is a sem 1997 stock stator that has never been tampered with and has a lot of hours and has not failed.

ohms test yellow to yellow =0.0 resistance "perfect" resistance

ohms test either yellow to blue = 0.0 resistance again "perfect" resistance

i was basing my readings off that of what krisberg650 said, also i beleive that same .8-1.2ohms is whats stated in the owner doc, that reading must be more for the new ones or an "up to" type of reading like it should not have more than that type of thing.

based off what i have read with mine i would say that your stator is good and you should look elsewhere for the problem. if mines good then yours is good. although i am still confused on your reading you said no resistance, to me that means bad circuit or OL, 0.0ohms is a resistance but a very small one.

only if you have an OL or OUT OF LIMITS reading would i say its in the stator or stator wiring for sure.

hope that makes sense, let me know what you have for questions

I have the same Colors

That is the strange thing, i read 1.2 between yellow and yellow

ohms test either yellow to blue = 0.0 resistance again "perfect" resistance

It is driving me quite crazy.....

Ill try tomorrow to read it wile engine running but pretty sure between yellow and blue no volt reading...
Should i read 0 between yellow and blue or 1.2 i am confused a bit now...

For the water leak, ill fill it up with new cooling liquid and see what happens, i changed the sealrings etc less than 40 hours ago when i changed the piston. or is this normal with the husa it wheres out in 40 hours?

grrrr. my husa is lucky i love her... :)

i dont know anymore either, although i would check the wiring all over closely, arkley's issue totally a unrelated thing took down the whole system, if its missing a connection somewhere it may not have a completed circuit so it wont charge and makes it look like the stator.....good luck

that not normal, maybe one drop per 40 hours or something

grrrr. my husa is lucky i love her... :)

Hee Bergini man,

I am going to order a new stator with Taffy. I have been trying everything but can't get 12 volt out of it :-( Thanks for all the help, i hope i can do something back for you one day :) Regards, Marcel

Dont worry about it pal, help somebody else along the way and we'll call it favor returned
