Hi
Got the niggly suspected ignition fault fixed with me 99 electric start 400 enduro and just as it was running ok, the bloody thing exploded....
Aaaagh..........
Suspected broken piston and/or conrod, though I s'pose the first goes automatically with the second thinking about it - something solid put a little crack in the crankcase straight underneath the crankshaft centreline when it broke anyway, right next to the case joint.
Here's my dilemma - I'd like to fix it really but electric start 99 bikes are rare-ish in the UK and I'm not that bothered about an electric start in principle.
So......would a non-electric start motor fit, because I've got more of a fighting chance of getting a second hand one for a sensible price?
I've read various threads about engine swaps but dont know enough myself about soptting the differences and what to look for. If the frame is different, can it be sensibly (read reasonably easily) modified with new engine plates/dextrous welding etc....
Any pointers/help would be much appreciated. Whilst I really want the full blooded husa experience (which I didnt get cos of the ignition fault when I bought it), I'm just not prepared to just keep chucking money at a 99 bike....
Cheers in anticipation and hope
Chris
