EXHAUST COMPARISON FOR NEW BERGS

Thinking about a new exhaust system for a 2010 FE450 and here are the choices:

Acrapovic - excellent quality, lightweight, better performance, great sound, expensive, and potential for header pipe.
FMF - good quality, lightweight, performance gain, good sound(maybe too loud), cheaper, maybe a powerbomb header in the future.
Stock modified with new endcap - no weight reduction, better performance, cheap, better sound.

Weight saving and a cooler running bike with performance gain, but not too loud are my concerns.

It would be nice to get all the info to be able to compare. What are the actual weight savings and where are the performance gains?
I read the threads and of course people are usually happy with what they buy - lets get the facts if possible.

Adding to your list of candidates any silencer from an 2007 onwards ktm SX or 2008 exc ktm will fit. (pretty sure the leads are right but just check before putting the money down)

i'm running a DEP silencer for a 2008 ktm on my 2009.

On the FMF side, are you talking Q4, Powercore or 4.1? I can tell you that the 4.1 without the 94db insert is unreasonably loud. The Q4 has a nice tone and wakes the bike up some over the stock muffler.

It seems like it is worth spending the money on the Acrapovic - performance, sound and lightest.
People seem to have mixed opinions on performance gains with the FMF Q4.

IMHO, the FMF is just waist of time and money.

Weight reduction is minimal if any, noise level increase (and I have the Q!) and performance didn't change one bit.

Worse 200$ I spent the last few years.

Either go with full blown Akra, or just stay with the (very good) OEM.

can't say i can agree, although i have a fmf 4.1
loud without the insert, not too bad with it in and makes good power

Like my akra exhaust. I was on the fence between akra or fmf.

Glad I went w/ the akra. Its waaaaayyyyy lighter than stock. Good performance gains. Makes a nice sounds and still pretty quiet w/ SA insert in. Overall workmanship unmatched based on the other stuff I've seen.

I'll have to start saving for the Acrapovic!
The header sure looks nice, but that is going to break the bank.
Titanium import duty into the US is driving the cost way up or something like that.

Save your money on the header and spend it on a steering dumper or tubliss or something that will make a real difference. The Akra slip on is good for a claimed 3 hp with the stock header IMHO, you will only save a matter of grams with a Ti header and the first time your boots/pants rub the pipe it will look chit anyways. There are a number of options around for carbon heat shields which will improve the looks of your pipe as an added bonus. I have the Akra slip on and I am perfectly happy with everyting about it and recommend them to anybody in the market for a pipe.

There is an ackro map we have it in our bikes,,,,ONE YOU HAVE ALL MISSED AND THEY DO THE FULL SYSTEM DOMA I HAVE JUST GOT ONE FOR OUR SECOND BIKE SO WILL REPORT WHAT ITS LIKE ONCE I HAVE TRIED IT.

How is that Doma working out? Any dyno #'s?

The Akrapovic muffler is 1lb 9oz lighter compared to stock - can anyone verify?

There are 2 Akrapovic slip on in Husaberg hardparts, one can be used with the header.
Why not the other? The mid pipe stays stock.
What are the differences besides the shape of the mufflers?

I installed a Duma silencer with a header (with chamber). It results better power then the Akra full system (roll-on comparison, not dyno).

But then, to release some more of the engine - you'll need to open the airbox and change the engine maps.

Ok the best system imoa is the doma it fits perfect and power is good with it,smaller rear can than the ackro so rear wheel don,t hit it like it hits the ackro, big jumps not a problem, just crashed and trashed the akro on one of my bikes so will be replacing it with the full doma system, ackro only do front pipe and silencer, doma do full system cheaper aswell, have a look here.

Hi!
The muffler seem to be a bit longer than original, not too long???
it is the 2 pipe in stainless steel or titanium?

I'm curious like "jkl" about the 2 Akra slip-on's?
I am using p/n's from the 10' catalog since I don't yet have the 11'
SXS.08.450.512 is the entry level can and it says for use with stock header.

812.05.079.000 is the bling carbon capped can that can be paired with the resonator header. It appears that the mid-pipe still stays stock as with the first can?

If the 2 slip-on's can be used with stock header and mid-pipe, Which one is best?
I too am looking for weight savings, quiet-ish and a boost in the bottom-end grunt.
Thanky

both work the same re hp

carbon cap one is a bit lighter but is fatter and hits rear tyre more if you run wide tyres like 140 etc, the full Ti one is stronger

BUT the new 2011 model slipon can is the best, stronger mounts and as narrow as the old Titan model, it's the pick I reckon

I suppose you mean this one to be the best pick ?!
